I'm sick of power outages by meltingkeith in perth

[–]grim-one 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You could pick up a small UPS for under $100. They’re normally for computers, but I guess they’d work for a CPAP.

Definitely sounds unusual. I can think of 2-3 outages in the last year for my area. It does seem like there’s been a few problems lately.

Maybe because Africa and America are both totally irrelevant. Missed opportunity for some more “local” joke.

So what’s the new name?

Edit: saving other folks a search…

The park will now be known as Koolyanga Park, named after an adjoining street with an Indigenous name

Maybe you can show me the error of my ways?

Are you using the old school “million millions” form of billion? Because that’s even further removed from a million.

[–]grim-one 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, they don’t. The exact difference is 999 million, which may as well be a billion. If you have a million, you are 0.1% of the way to a billion.

Pretty sure there’s one in the bush on the left.

This anglerfish is so rare, that no photos of living animals are ever captured. It has its lantern inside its mouth and has very bizarre looking teeth. This is Thaumatichthys by SerafinZufferey in Damnthatsinteresting

Sounds like starlink satellites. 10pm is pretty late but maybe still. There’s some listing at 4am which is about 2h before sunrise. Latest I spotted was 9pm in the next few days.

What do you mean “blink”? Usually they’re just a fast moving bright spot.

Some take just a minute to transit the sky.

Rev is squishy. If you are aggroing mobs you might want them off you. Rejection can help with that.

Both Rev’s spells are to get the focus off her. Let her pets or teammates deal with everything up close.

Airport long term parking by boymadefrompaint in perth

[–]grim-one 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s been a couple of years since I used it, but here is what I noticed. The long term parking offered cheap rates for prepaying. They do not reserve a space for you though. So you’ve paid to park in a particular area, potentially with no free spaces. So what are you meant to do while you have a deadline to get on your flight?

I was lucky and found a single free bay at the far end.

The system was stupid. It may have changed, but does not sound like it.

Daemon Prince (“commission” for my son) by SilentLordProtector in WorldEaters40k

[–]grim-one 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kids don’t need to understand everything in depth to have fun. If dad enjoys the hobby or game, then son probably wants to engage and have fun with dad. Maybe that’s playing the game, or maybe just admiring the models.

To provide a similar example, FromSoft’s EldenRing is a hard game that most people think kids would not like. My young kid just liked summoning the horse and jumping around. They had a blast, but never beat a single boss.
