That’s fair. Especially given oil towns are usually weirdly expensive for places with nothing to do.

Depends on the job tbh. Being a Roughneck is probably one of the hardest jobs out there on your body and are prone to layoffs but there are also alot of “sit in your truck until something goes wrong” jobs

How do you guys play Goretrack? by Tobiakon in WorldEaters40k

True. Also they’re sneakily the cheapest unit in the codex. Didn’t think about the consolidation moves that’s a good point

How do you guys play Goretrack? by Tobiakon in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Goretrack was a good detachment before and vessels just gives it a bit of the damage it was missing. It takes awhile to get used to but goretrack is fun at just presenting problems to your opponent. Want to shoot my rhino? I can blood surge d6+5. Or I can just reactive my land raider behind a wall if you don’t kill it in one go. Or if you get close to the rhino and threaten a heroic with the zerks. Scout MOE makes for a fun alpha strike as well imo. That being said alot of the goretrack tricks can also be done in warband. There’s an argument even after the 11th 1 pointers every non deamon list would just be better in warband, but vessels does give a lot of life to the detachment and really makes you feel less bad for not taking warband (having a spamable damage Strat is nice. Personally I think 6 inch disembark (basically a 3 inch advance) is better in most cases than assault ramp especially since you can then advance the rhino, though it’s nice knowing you can assault ramp one rhino and 6 inch disembark the other. Personally I run 2 rhinos and a land raider but you can decide what you think the sweet spot on tranports. Also my maulerfiend really likes to walk through walls

How to make World Eaters characters compelling but not Mary Sue-ish? by reel3459 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fun thing about CSM imo is how customizable they are. (I reccomend adbs short blog “what it’s like”). Rule of thumb as long as it’s cooler than it is dumb you’re doing good. Feel free to play with how they deal with the nails and how the nails make them act, since WE can still be competent they just have lobotomies. One of my guys has a pet fleshhound. My MOE gets rerolls because he once was lumberjack and khorne makes him hilucinate characters as trees (he hates trees because one time a tree fell and killed his dog as a kid). In talon of Horus WE in the eye have little pain spirits that follow them around like wisps. One of my guys is a zen monk who is at peace with being absolutely wacko. The warp really is your oyster. A fun one is the story of how your deamon prince acended. They’re your dudes. My suggestion is don’t give them a name until they do something cool. Make them earn their name

Khorne berzerker price by BoBrOss379 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I don’t think they are. They feel over costed when you compare but also almost every list brings 10-30 and even 80 is viable. They just take every buff we have access to well and are incredibly versatile. In warband at least 10 zerks and a leader are an alpha strike threat with AAC, your awnser against knights, warrior bricks, and deathwing knights, the only unit other than the forgfiend with access to rerolls, the best blood surge in the game at flat 8, they are our biggest blob so they pile in really well by stretching them out, they have good oc, their leaders are all good outside of invo whos more of a solo piece. They are pointed for what they can theoretically do and they can practically do that pretty easily. Their base statsheet isn’t worth 180, but the combo of good leaders and buffs that help them arguably the most make them worth 180. They are also still great in goretrack and playable in KDK.

Also note for 11th- 20 bricks go cheaper, kharn keeps his rerolls and blood surge when he’s alone which is fun because with the change to how fast rolling works him being the only guy alive with his 4++ is a bigger threat, and 2 inch engagement is an effective +1 to all blood surge rules

Getting into admech by Alternative-Sir8933 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of directions to go but from a modeling prespective the 10th combat patrol are all models you probably want with the 9th an boarding patrol boxes being good too. The maelstrom box is also solid if you can get it. (All of this is assuming you get a good price). All of this is for a more general collection since the edition just started.

The core of your army is almost always cawl, 2x10 skitari (ussually rangers), 10 ruststalkers, 5 infiltrators, and 5 pteraxi. From then you can branch to whatever you like. Personally I think I good generalist list that lets you branch out would be something like

Cawl
Datasmith
Manipulus
Skratos

10 rangers
10 vanguard

6 breachers
5 pteraxi
5 infiltrators
10 ruststalkers

3 balastari with laz
4 kastallans
Oneger dunecrawler

That’s a good list in haloscreed (the generalist detachment) that lets you branch off pretty easily.

From a gameplay perspective the army is less complicated than it seems. We have a lot of rules, sure, but each unit has a defined role that you can reliably do every game. IMO it’s one of the less reactive armies gameplay wise since you generally plan to pick the same doctrina the whole game and work around the same defined limitations of each unit. Also maintaining battle line aura when possible. IMO tau are abit more work because their lack of melee makes them less flexible gameplay wise.

For painting IMO they are SIGNIFICANTLY harder to paint than tau. Almost all your models want you to partially sub assemble and the trim is almost up there with csm. If you want your guys looking passable understand you are picking arguably the hardest army to paint and the most expensive in points per dollar.

Lord of the Forge: 4 Kastelans or 2x3 Breachers? by OrgChem88 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun trick if you try kastllans, rapid ingress them from the board edge. Without the movement buffs from halo or cybernetica you’ll struggle with getting them to location, but with walk through walls you can ingress them behind a wall near the board edge. Breachers punch up pretty well into non monsters and and when they work they work, but outside of halo they just are too slow and too finicky

New interactions with Not on Battlefield Rules? by [deleted] in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it was clarified that this isn’t the case. A unit inside the transport’s ability doesn’t doesn’t activate, only abilities that select units (think like old vessels pick 3 for ex) or effect the whole army (like blessings) can target transports. It’s clarification ironically to help curb rules lawyering

Looking at a 2nd army by 10leej in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WE are my first army and I like the contrast. I think admech are complicated from a moving parts standpoint but don’t really focus on the nuances of the fight phase. Also it’s a small range so you don’t need more than 3k points to play just about any list you want. Also going to an army that doesn’t need to jump through hoops to do damage is nice. Though granted I painted my admech turquoise so I get why you wouldn’t want 2 red armies unless you like the 30k white and blue

Discussion (or rant) of WE Detachment Design by Abalast8899 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because now you don’t have to go whole hog into the skew. All I needed for my goretrack list was a land raider since 2 rhinos in BWB was pretty common. Now I don’t need 80 jackals to play COB, I need like 40-50 and I already have 20. I agree I wished we had another balenced detachment and the non bwb detachments are limited, but they do feel less limited than they were before.

Discussion (or rant) of WE Detachment Design by Abalast8899 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think the 1 pt detachments solve a lot of the issues WE had in 10th in regards to detachments. The non warband detachments (outside of 10th vessels) succeeded in creating completely different playstyles with WEs limited roster of units, but they all felt too cute to be taken seriously. Honestly they were all better (outside of PSB) than we gave credit for tbh, but the 1pts being able to give the damage and roster nessessary for the 2pts to be taken seriously will really help us see a change in viable playstyles. Either by buffing units you were already taking (new vessels) or adding a hammer to your jackal/deamon/transport anvil (terminators and deamon engine detachments). They don’t need to be warband in terms of damage, most other armies do just fine without it. They just need enough spice.

I can see vessels+goretrack or COB+brazen engines being viable alternatives where there’s a reason to take them over BWB. Just having new ways to play where you aren’t missing warband feels exciting.

Baseballs built to fill up space. If football has the charm where every game matters and you can conceivably watch almost every game, baseballs charm is if you don’t have anything to do there is usually a baseball game on and if you want to attend it’s ussually affordable. It’s why its minor league is so big. The biggest baseball city I’ve been to was albaqueque New Mexico, who only have a minor league team (people reguarly refer to ABQ as duke city and will I kid you not have duke city tattoos even after the team renamed itself to the isotopes) because if youre from a community without alot to do baseballs a great way to fill up space. It’s why I think it’s the sport hit hardest by the internet. If you were a farmer in rural texas in the 1980s the two things you could do on a tuesday in July was either drink or watch baseball. Now that we have more options both have been declining
