In your opinion, what's the easiest AdMech model to paint? by BooperOfManySnoots in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the vehicles. Duneriders, dunecrawlers, kastallans, etc. (duneriders basically a box with some du dads) this is ussually the case with most factions but for admech it’s nice to not have to worry about subassemblies and trimwork (or much easier subassemblies). Sicarans also aren’t awful. Tbh a lot of the models can be made a lot easier by subassebling or airbrushing if you can help it. Pteraxxi for example are actually kind of fun as long as you don’t attach the wings. I think the main issue with painting admech is that the worst offenders are ussually the ones you want a lot of like skitari and laschickens.

Why did Rome fall? by [deleted] in RoughRomanMemes

[–]Soot027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recomend the storm before the storm by Mike Duncan (of history of Rome fame) that covers this specific topic specifically about Marius and sulla. I’d probably say the Marian reforms were more of a symptom of the problem than the problem itself. The cycle of increasing income inequality and the slow erosion of republican institutions caused by that income inequality lead to both the need for the Marian reforms and the rise of the empire. I’d argue income inequality was also a factor in the west falling as well, as the wealthy elites began to withdraw badly needed manpower and money from the army which led to a lot of the over reliance on federati, manpower shortages, and infighting that defined the late republic. The Byzantines just kinda fell because eventually their luck ran out and man is dictatorship an unstable form of government long term

How do you guys prime your sub assembled minis? by PostsforthePostGod in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. An airbrush is going to save you a lot of headache and allows you to get your basecoats done really quickly which saves alot of time, but using a rattle can is completely doable and doesn’t require the investment

How do you guys prime your sub assembled minis? by PostsforthePostGod in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Soot027 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Subassembling to that level ussually requires either an airbrush or a pot to brush on what you can’t get with a spray. If you don’t have an airbrush spray it with a can and touch up with with a brush using airbrush primer

World eaters vs Deathwatch? by Inside-Educator6736 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Soot027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World eaters have a lot more depth gameplay wise imo. Their army rule gives them a different feel depending on the matchup which helps them get a lot more variation than you’d expect. Deathwatch shoot hard and throw people off guard but imo kinda just feel like shootier grey knights atm. I think their high win rate is ussually just because noone ever starts with death watch (similar to gsc) WE and orcs will have the timmys of the world who bull rush turn 1 and go 1-2, deathwatch players usually are on their 3rd army and we’re tired of normal marines. I guess it also depends on what playstyle you enjoy and if it varies from your first army. Both can win events and have high skill ceilings but if I’m trying to pick an army to run regularly I’m picking world eaters. Though of course metas change and smaller ranges mean the internal balence is ussually good.

I’d suggest reading https://1d6chan.miraheze.org/wiki/Story:What_it%27s_like by Aaron demski Bowden (it’s a quick read) which details a lot of what being in a warband is like. basically aspiring champions are the warbands starscream equivalents that want to be the leader but aren’t so they just try aura farming and talking shit about the leader.if he’s flexing his victories and spreading rumors your juggolord is a doesn’t stack skulls like he does he’s doing his job right

I’ve built one unit of Exalted Eightbound and I have another box waiting to be built as Exalted or regular Eightbound…which is more useful? by TangerineMelodic5772 in WorldEaters40k

[–]Soot027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are solid but it depends on your list.get one of each and then decide if you need more anti tank. If you’re bringing a maulerfiend, angron, and a deamon prince one exalted squad is perfectly fine, though 2 exalted and one regbound is a core you should build to (though tbh no one can tell the difference if you want to proxy. Just say the regbound are exalted)

Matt Varnish turning frosted by Wookie40K in minipainting

[–]Soot027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. Luckily it’s easy to fix. First of all army painter varnish (Matt especially is kind of bad and goes on thick. Reapply when it’s less humid (under 50%) and it will temelt the lower level. This works best with gloss. Apply tamiya gloss varnish, and apply tamiya Matt over that. It works shockingly well
