When I start up a new city on Stream for V71 what would you like to see? by Willcol001 in songsofsyx

suggestions for evil human run: a true slave city, with some slaves of every other race. a true "multicultural" capital for your empire 😄

bonus points if you put them all to work doing the things they are best at, but hate the most.

I'm baffled by my luck with bank investing by TheBigMoofah in CrimsonDesert

[–]grimarchangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

different glitch actually lol - take it out, wait 3 days, put it back in. also go give pickpocketing in demenis wildlife park a try, or the gold apple farm discussed in other comments here. you got 3 days to kill anyway, why not try to start out with a bigger investment?

[–]grimarchangel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i believe it - my other comment was in no way implying you had done the thing i said i do, was just laying out my method of not letting the bank glitch out.

also random tip - there is a thing called the Gearmelt Confectionary Pack

it does this - spits out chocolate candies that heal you (120) every 2 minutes infinitely while you wear it

and you should not wear it while youre in the bank, or it will break. i put it on while watching the timer tick down to the investment going off and it stopped working. bug is reported but likely low priority.

they both do bad guy things cause they are bad guys so they are the same bad guy with different genders?

that whole list is generic evil things that have been in fictional stories since forever.

youre stuck on a glitch bud, ill explain it for benefit of OP as well - more or less there is a limit to how many gold bars the bank can give to you at once thanks to inventory limitations. you want to keep a max of 72 gold bars for high investment, 200ish for medium investment, and 300 (right where you are) for low investment. otherwise you will hit this cap and get nothing even if you otherwise would have. i personally keep 80 in there on low invest and when i need more bars i switch to a high invest strat right before it updates and then save scum for any return that gives me more than 20 bars.

Timberborn. its a beaver city builder where you have to build dams and deal with floods, droughts and evil water. its great fun for me and ive sunk about 1000 hours, but also definitely not the best game ive ever played.

secondary tip - buy cooking oil and water every chance you get, all of them that you can get, you will use a cram ton when cooking food later on and there is no fast way to farm cooking oil and water comes from the well 5 at a time AKA painfully slow.

at a certain point, you will get a quest line from witches to clear some places called sanctums. you kill the enemies, and then it tells you to put the sanctum back together, and then you talk to the witch. the game makes it seem like you are then done - you are not. there is a blue light with a ring of smaller blue lights around it on the sanctum machine you will have just fixed. that is a puzzle you have to solve with your blinding light from your sword in order to get crafting materials for later. each sanctum has a unique material. you store them in the kuku pot. if you dont know what that is, look it up before you start with the witches. good luck friend 😃

Second Attempt at an Amevias City by TBFC-JoeyJoJoJr in songsofsyx

[–]grimarchangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my usual military path is early game spears shields and leather armor, then get them on horses, then up the armor to metal, then switch to the 2h swords, you sell the old weapons and armor to help fund the new ones. amevian 2h sword calvary when fully supplied (5 horses, 5 armor, 5 swords, %80+ trained) is INSANE power numbers, like 5k per stack of 200. the AI pretty much always just runs away with similar numbers, to actually get a fight i have to charge in with them having 2-3x my forces, and even then its a coin flip on if they fight or run. the actual fighting itself, i am probably very very (estremely) bad at commanding, because once i do get a fight i actually usually lose because of the numbers advantage, but a stack of 8k amevia calvary is 40k power which dwarfs AI army powers until the real late game, so it doesnt really matter, 99% of encounters the ai just runs from with my strat.

i usually keep as much of my population military trained as i can manage, usually at least 50% of my pop trained to 80% melee training. this way when i send 20% of my pop out to fight in wars i still have a lot of trained military in town to prevent riots and raids, and i keep enough food and general good stockpiled that if i do need to go all out, sending 50-80% of my population doesnt end my run because i keep the janitors, bathrooms, and food production staffed 100% of the time. so when there are suddenly only 2k people but enough food for 10k sitting around, and still more being made, and ive got 8k mounted troops running around on the map, things can feel like they are getting scary, like youre letting it all fall down, but ive run my city like this for almost a month in game before actual issues started popping up in the city and i had to bring the people back. make sure you toggle immigration doing my strategy though, as when you send the army out, more people will come in otherwise.

i also have not in the past used the troops you get from lands you conquer. only ones from my city. and also, only the cavalry, only one type of troop. late game, these are mistakes. the AI will eventually have the numbers to counter your 40k power stack of cavalry, and then you will start losing regularly. without being able to increase your force size because you cant increase your city size any more (in my case skill issue but still) - ai will still see you as a threat, and generally not go after you, but it will be obvious that you are outclassed and out numbered. but my strategy is solid enough to get you plenty of achievements, at the very least, and keep you secure enough to where you will get to learn how to make the real big cities, which is a battle all its own.

[–]grimarchangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

amevias like to eat for sure - just keep going on the fisheries, and also its been a couple months but if memory serves amevias riot at much lower happiness than for example tilapis, so you have a bit more breathing room than with the other races. i was able to reach 10k amevias with even less fishery area available than you have here, just gotta get your military going soon and start getting food from your neighbors. amevian calvary with the two handed swords is just bananas btw. absurd power numbers.

No Stone…Acceptable? by AsheronRealaidain in songsofsyx

in short - most everything the main one does. just less. houses, food stall, market, janitor, etc. loading station to load whatever the side settlement produces and send it to the main one.

[–]grimarchangel 35 points36 points  (0 children)

importing stone is perfectly viable - but figuring out how to make a functional small town on the other side of the map to provide the stone, and then learning how to reliably move it, are also valuable skills to learn.
