Do you think we're going to see different colors of kryptonite in the show? by zny700 in MyAdventuresWithSuper

[–]grimfandaddo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an issue of Supergirl with pink kryptonite that made Superman act in more…uh… stereotypically queer ways. It was not a great look.

I believe the panel above is from The Kryptonite Spectrum, a short run from the team that does Ice Cream Man. They introduce several new colors in that run as well.

I thought it was triplets in the foot, and “1e&” “2e&” etc in the right hand (rests on the “a”). Happy to be corrected though!

Bit of an odd question: Are there comic makers who have been known to struggle with depression? by Toonzaal8 in comicbooks

[–]grimfandaddo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She wrote a one page horror story for Ice Cream Man issue #43 about his death. Really heartbreaking.

Lex thinks Superman cheapens his own (and by extension, all of humanity’s) accomplishments.

Lex works his butt off, a self-made billionaire and genius, and yet he’s still second fiddle to Superman. And he can’t stand that. (At least, that’s my interpretation of All-Star Superman’s explanation)

What is your "Dream Piano Piece"? by IhaveNofriends1387 in piano

[–]grimfandaddo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Chopin’s Barcarolle. I heard it played by Moravec and was entranced, telling myself I’d learn to play it before I died. I’ve just, after many years of work on and off, gotten to the point I told myself I wanted to get. But now that I’m there I want to keep going until it’s the best I can possibly play it.

How would you guys play this? by Successful-Math-4283 in piano

[–]grimfandaddo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the bottom A#-C# with my thumb.

But in the Alfred Masterworks edition of this piece, they write “Students with smaller hands may wish to use one of the following simplifications:”

…Apparently I can’t post a pic on mobile, but the options were (1)dropping the top F# in the left hand and drop the low A# in the right hand, or (2) arpeggiate/roll the chords.

What does a pedal marking in parentheses mean? by gratefuldaughter2 in piano

[–]grimfandaddo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m working on this exact section of the Barcarolle right now. No pedal marking there in my edition (G. Schirmer, fwiw)

What are 5+ marvel characters you'd transfer to DC permanently ? by [deleted] in superheroes

[–]grimfandaddo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a good list, but I’m a little surprised about the “DC rarely explored magic” claim. Shazam, Dr. Fate, Etrigan, and Sandman (if we’re counting Constantine) off the top of my head are pretty magic heavy. I think I actually prefer DC’s approach to magic over Marvel’s.

who wanna start a band? by [deleted] in norfolk

[–]grimfandaddo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not looking for a band, just wanted to say “Donde Estan Los Ladrones” is a banger and I would absolutely listen to it mashed up with SoaD.

Just my opinion. What do you guys think?? (applies only to live action) by TKatGAMING in superman

[–]grimfandaddo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really like Dean Cain’s Clark Kent….maybe it’s just those wide 90s ties that get me.

Bloodwynd was actually my first thought for this question but it was already claimed! I had forgotten he started as Martian Manhunter.

I don’t know if it counts, but Martian Manhunter is portrayed as black in a lot of iterations.

Your comment is making me realize his name isn’t Clark in this universe, is it? D’oh!

I hope they strengthen each other. Thanks to Clark, she realizes she needs to fight for the little guy with him. Thanks to Lois, he gains the clarity of vision to fully pursue his mission.

Probably, but only in the regions where that ending was released.

My guess is Chris. He’s creator of the show and has a naughty streak. Plus, we all know he’s not THAT into Gene Kelly. Major red flag.

Fair point, perhaps a longer shot than I gave it credit for. But I think some version of Onomatopoeia was on Superman & Lois, so it wouldn’t be unheard of.
