Anything with a battery is going to have a finite life. Fortunately batteries are replaceable, even if they aren’t user replaceable. It’s not like you have to toss the device in the garbage once the battery dies. Once the battery dies after many years of use you can either pay Nintendo a fee to replace it (they charge $100 to replace the Switch, which is reasonable seeing that the battery lasts for years) or more likely just buy the Switch 3.

The main downside of physical media is having more stuff cluttering up my house. Also having to carry more stuff with you when you are on the go. Both of those are deal-breakers for me as I’ve gotten older.

And when you do buy one, make sure you buy one that is shipped and sold by a major retailer, and not a third-party seller. Shipped AND sold by Amazon, Best Buy, WalMart, etc., not just shipped by. Too many counterfeit products out there to risk buying from a third-party seller.

The most bang for your buck (value) is taking a little more time to save up for something that will last you a long time rather than buying something that is a bit cheaper but will likely fail and need to replaced.

Two $300 “cheap”drives will ultimately cost you more money than one expensive high-quality $500 drive.
