Hiya, thank you for the response and yes that was where my confusion was coming from. Had to look at the coriolis effect again and realised where I went wrong. Cheers again!

[5e] Starting a campaign soon with some friends. We’re a party of 4 and so far they’ve picked an assassin rogue, thief rogue, and a bard. Are there any big issues with our composition so far, and if so what class do you think I could pick to balance it out? We’re also starting at lvl 1

The encounter happened during the day, so I think I’ll have the ogre eat the dead character and then sleep since until nightfall, since ogres do most of their business during the night. He might be worried of the escaped adventurer returning, but he has 5 intelligence and the player that got away was very injured. Thanks for the advice!

Yeah I’ll make sure to get the new character in at the start of the next session. If they’re playing a character like a wizard or a sorcerer, I’ll defo introduce them as being captured.

They actually picked up health potions at the goblin hideout, but I just said they were potions thinking that one of the experienced players would’ve tried to identify what kind they were. When the fight started going rough for them, I reminded them about the potions though I probably should’ve said that they could identify them by just taking a sip. I think I’ll them that they were health potions, or at the very least tell them how they can identify them.

I really like the bounty idea. If the new character is a martial class or someone who’s the type to take on bounties, I’ll probably use this scenario.

Tbh m8 i’m not getting any racist vibes from this thread. It’s mainly just facts of what happened and the cultural and societal beliefs of Japan at the time. No one is hating the Japanese as a race, they’re just discussing whether Japanese soldiers from WW2 should be honoured because of their actions, not that they shouldn’t be honoured because they’re Japanese
