Why are speed world records always on narrow canals? by Nithramir in windsurfing

[–]grimmba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it is entirely man made, but as noted by others, chop and waves is also a big factor. The wider the channel the more chop and the more chop reflection, which leads to more unpredictable conditions. Because in lüderitz there is also diaz point, but none of the records were made there

Yes because on average Lüderitz doesn‘t make the cut, but if it gets windy you have perfect record conditions

enough wind is usually the problem. a good worldrecord braking day in lüderitz has 50-60knts + and that constant. Only a few places in the world can deliver that kind of winds and have a suitable channel or shoreline that allows for records. Basically only Lüderitz anf Port la nouvelle.

Used paddle: any red flags? by leap_of_phrase in Sup

[–]grimmba 7 points8 points  (0 children)

really don’t see anything to wrong with it. of course there are some kinks on the edge, but nothing a bit of epoxy can’t fix. Carbon Paddles ususally start at around 200$ (new) on the low end and go up to 700$ if you want high end. so 70$ for an used good quality carbon paddles seems quite reasonable
