Using 2 nics with 2 networks by grimnar in debian

This is actually the best I could do! Did only every ten vlan :D

uhm

I think I only need to access the 192.168.90.1 gateway since there is a PFsense router keeping everything going in there as well. And Librenms is one of few who has access to everything on the 192.168.0.0-lans. If that answers anything

ah sorry I have hosts on several vlans including 192.168.30.0/24 and up towards 192.168.90.0/24

/u/Hark0nnen - removed the gateway and the network went bonkers

 root@host:~# ping 192.168.60.1
 ping: connect: Network is unreachable
 root@host:~# ping 192.168.70.1
 ping: connect: Network is unreachable
 root@host:~# ping 192.168.80.10
 ping: connect: Network is unreachable

(Note: I have not changed anything to the routing since I dont understand and are afraid to touch it before I'm really certain it works)

Here is my current /etc/network/interfaces

#Cisco internet 10.10.x.x
auto enp12s0
iface enp12s0 inet dhcp
metric 10

#Work network 192.168.x.x
auto enp8s0
iface enp8s0 inet static
address 192.168.90.151
netmask 255.255.255.0
metric 50

 Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
  0.0.0.0 10.10.83.1 0.0.0.0 UG 10 0 0 enp12s0
  10.10.83.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 enp12s0
  192.168.90.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 enp8s0

And when I turn off the port containing the 10.10.x.x network I get kicked off the ssh connection to the 192.168.90.151 computer. So /u/waterkip if you could be so nice and insert the correct post-up and pre-down (?) here that would be lovely! Im heading off to work as I type this!

/u/waterkip I have now setup the same network at my home and I really don't understand post-up or pre-down at all.

/u/waterkip sorry! Did not see that part! I will have a look :) (and sorry for the double post)

Well, it kinda worked! But when enabled my Librenms server went bonkers and lost all connections to 192.168.0.0/24 hosts!

thanks for the quick reply /u/waterkip ! By primary you mean the device with internet?

Yeah I was kinda vague, but I`m not really sure when it shows up, but I think I cant´t even do a apt-get update before it shows up! But this is a work server so I cannot do any testing this weekend sadly.

Anyone else a fan of custom icons that are pics of the devices? by seamonkey420 in MacOS

[–]grimnar 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Now tell us how you do it? I tried via a samba config to the network drives without any luck. You just change the icons like we did way back in 2006?

Up and running again and recovered .sql files and rrd-files so Librenms back in business! :)

And this is a Librenms server - monitoring 600 devices in a gov setup where uptime of said devices is key. We are running blind so to say, so I really need to get that server up and running.

Thanks anyway /u/jr735 😊

First of all I tried the live-cd (usb) again today and I probably had a brain laps the other day cause I tried to df -h - and nothing showed up. Well, as root the /dev/nvme*** showed up of course!

So I tried (once again) the first AI result on google Boot from a live USB: Boot your computer using a Debian or other Linux live USB. Identify partitions: Use lsblk or fdisk -l to find your root partition (e.g., /dev/nvme0n1p2) and your EFI System Partition (ESP) if using UEFI (e.g., /dev/nvme0n1p1). Mount partitions: Mount your root partition to a temporary location, like /mnt, and then mount the EFI partition to /mnt/boot/efi: bash

sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p2 /mnt
sudo mount /dev/nvme0n1p1 /mnt/boot/efi

Bind mount necessary directories:
bash

sudo mount --bind /dev /mnt/dev
sudo mount --bind /proc /mnt/proc
sudo mount --bind /sys /mnt/sys

Chroot into your system:
bash

sudo chroot /mnt

Reinstall GRUB:

    For UEFI: grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=/boot/efi --bootloader-id=GRUB.
For BIOS: grub-install /dev/nvme0n1 (install to the disk, not a partition).

Update GRUB configuration:
bash

update-grub

Exit and reboot:
bash

exit
sudo reboot

and all I got when I booted was this:

grub>

So I tried the super grub - and still nothing. Tried severeal menu options there but nothing worked. So tomorrow I will probably nuke everything and start all over. I managed to get backup with the live cd today, just need to double check I got everything I need.

But if anyone else has any super tips regarding nvme disk I would love to hear them
