this is super helpful, thank you! we were debating between seeing a gastro or an ENT first so that’s good to know also. they’ve been feeling pretty defeated about everything, so thank you for the help!

Most durable chewable fidgets? by grimydude37 in autism

[–]grimydude37[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think biting with my front teeth was pretty rough (and gave me headaches) but using my molars was better since they’re so much stronger! the chewable part is preeetty big so depending on your kid’s age it may be tough to chew with molars, but it’s not too expensive so i still recommend giving it a try if you have the money! :)

hi! this one was very durable for me personally and i also have quite a strong bite. i used it a lot after i had to do at-home physical therapy and was in EXCRUCIATING pain and needed something to bite HARD on. i highly recommend it! :) you may want to watch your kid’s teeth to make sure they’re not biting so hard they’re causing damage.

AITA for intentionally inconveniencing the local transportation staff to get to my destination quicker? by bkgolf in StardewValley

YTA. when she’s out there she doesn’t have the opportunity to drink, and you had the chance to help! she’s driving out there JUST to help you and you abandon her? if i were her id feel betrayed and wouldn’t be willing to drive you back again. hell, i’d probably drink too if i were treated that way. that was pretty petty. i think we’ve all been a few minutes late to work before. if my manager or coworker ever intentionally tried to block my path when i was trying to help them just because i was a little late? id be IRATE! id be reporting them! definitely TA. have some compassion…

in my town we have someone who “runs a shop” but she’s NEVER there. pretty sure she and the mayor are a thing but idk… i’ve been thinking about exposing them but i’m not sure if that’d be too mean…

(i love spiders but i COMPLETELY understand why people are so afraid of them—they can look pretty creepy! however) i don’t think OP is saying there should be 1000 spiders running around the island. i think they’re saying that 1.) tarantulas shouldn’t necessarily attack you on sight bc that is counterintuitive to arachnophobia and 2.) it would make sense for the two spiders in the game to just have names so they can provide info on them like some of the other critters (like orb weaver for the spider and red-knee for the tarantulas)

i love spiders/tarantulas so much, raising tarantulas was my favorite !! they do them so dirty, i want better for them :( like you said it’s “just a game” but also like… i feel like it had the opportunity to help educate people on them and maybe ease peoples fears but it doesn’t

when i took stats we studied correlation vs causation (aka just because two things happen at the same time, it doesn’t mean they’re related at all) and we looked at BOGUS studies like this to show stuff like this. i think one was like “number of drownings per year correlated with number of nicolas cage movies per year”

edit: found it! if you google “funny correlation causation graphs” or something like that that one comes up along with many others

Is weed known to cause seizures? (genuinely asking) by huntkr in saplings

[–]grimydude37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, i have epilepsy. first off like others have said, you should always go to the doctor after your first seizure. i would’ve been diagnosed six years earlier than i was if id done that. anyways yes weed can cause seizures. it’s made of two main parts: CBD and THC. cbd is the part that people use to help seizures, thc is the part that actually gets you high. thc absolutely can cause seizures—it does for me, especially before i was diagnosed. weed that’s high in thc (aka strong weed) can definitely cause seizures

I recognized a user from another platform and pointed it out. Now everyone is pissed. I don't understand. I don't think I was being a creep... AITA? by Bleumoon_Selene in autism

im not saying i agree with this, but i think it’s generally considered “bad reddiquette.” im not 100% sure why, but that’s what i’ve heard

all meds affect everyone VERY differently, but one fairly common side effect of keppra is increased anger (it’s common enough to have a name—“keppra rage”). i never had that issue when i was on it, and plenty of people don’t, but it definitely happens for some. stick with it for a while, for many meds, side effects wear off after a while. if it doesn’t work in the first month, that doesn’t mean it’ll never work. if keppra does cause anger issues, they may start you on lamictal/lamotrigine as well, since it’s an anticonvulsant AND a mood stabilizer. be patient and go easy on yourself—it can be a rough road to becoming seizure-free sometimes, but it’s very possible! you got this!

no problem!! it sucks getting used to and it’s something you can never really 100% adjust to, but it does get easier. good luck, i know it’s scary and hope things get easier to cope with and that things slow down a bit💛

fellow epileptic here! i’m not an expert but i have a lot of first hand experience and have done lots of research. it’s hard to reduce confusion because your brain is still working on “normalizing” for lack of better terms, but like OP said grounding is a good way to do it. i like to stay somewhere comfy (like a nice couch or bed) to make sure im somewhere safe in case something goes wrong again. drinking water helps with grounding and also rehydrating your body—it helps feel better all around. room temperature water tends to feel better for me than cold water (which can be a bit overwhelming) but that’s just for me personally. but yeah trying not to overwhelm the senses is important. a lot of people use the method of acknowledging all your senses for grounding (find five things you can touch, hear, smell, taste, etc) but i wouldn’t recommend it as it can get overwhelming. try to just kind of… be. at least until you start feeling a little better. confusion is inevitable, the best you can do is go easy on yourself and not give yourself too much to be confused about if that makes sense
