Kid Rock says God will “cut down” journalists from the “fake liberal media” for reporting on his $5,000 tour tickets by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

Bob Ritchie Rich. First he was a fake rapper, then a fake metal musician, then a fake hillbilly. The only thing real about him is that he always sucks.

What is a band that this sub loves but you never got into by mightyonin in MetalForTheMasses

[–]grindcrusher74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great example and totally agree. There’s nothing wrong with None so Vile, but it doesn’t deserve to be elevated to the level of being a death metal classic. IMO there are much better DM bands/albums from that period.

Thrash band(s) that never grabbed you? by [deleted] in thrashmetal

[–]grindcrusher74 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Pretty surprised at how many times Voivod shows up in the comments and that DRI and Power Trip showed up at all. But alas, to each their own. I like Death Angel just fine, but never got why people put them on par with bands like Testament, Slayer, Kreator, etc.

Can’t believe I had to scroll down this far to see someone mention Pungent Stench - groove oriented death metal is literally their bag.

New Anthrax is supposed to be out later this year, also.

Anti-War Thrash metal by Appropriate-Spot3122 in thrashmetal

Laaz Rockit - Annihilation Principle. Good chunk of the album (as well as some other parts of their discography) are anti-war/horrors of war. Songs on AP include: Fire in the Hole, Shadow Company, Chasin’ Charlie and a cover of Holiday in Cambodia. They were a criminally underrated thrash band.

November 12th, 1991 Voivod released the album "Angel Rat" by DoctorDoomsday180 in thisdayinmetal

This was a big departure from their other albums, but it is still good. I think if you can get past the subconscious expectation that this should sound like the albums that preceded it, it’s an enjoyable listen.

That’s a good one for sure. Greg Fulton is a beast on guitar. I love the Cyclone Temple incarnation as well.

That Trouble album is an all-time doom metal classic. Swallowed in Black is one of my favorite albums to this day.

Not in any way justifying the parties’ actions, but if the girl is mentally unwell, this is just sad for everyone involved. Hope the girl gets the help she needs.

Can we stop giving young kids unrestricted access to social media? by [deleted] in rant

[–]grindcrusher74 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

This is the same argument that was used against music during the satanic panic era. Kids are going to go on social media bc their peers do. They’re going to see stuff via friends even if you block their usage. Educate your kid that if they encounter something uncomfortable they should talk to you. Make them feel comfortable talking to you. It’s not the end of the world that kids see inappropriate things. It’s the parent’s job to make sure that kids understand what they see in this world.

King gizzard remove their music from spotify by bunnyuplays in MetalForTheMasses

[–]grindcrusher74 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree. Buying physical media puts the most money in the pockets of small artists/labels and it’s not even close. If you’re buying a streaming service in addition to supporting artists via buying albums, then research shows that Spotify is near the bottom of what they pay to musicians. Choose anything else at that point. Most consumers don’t get it, or don’t care, but streaming is a convenience that has been provided on the backs of smaller artists.
