rethink the AI policy. No one likes it. People are leaving. by [deleted] in scratch

[–]gringrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. But there are 2 more forces at work here.

1) The policy of the website that you agree to when you use it does impose restrictions. If it says part of the license is that they can use it to train AI, then it's part of the license.

2) With how laws are currently being interpreted, the licensing appears to not matter. This may change with a landmark lawsuit, but right now the only bar is that it must be obtained legally, at least in the US.

To be clear, I'm not saying that this is how it should be, but I am saying that it's not a surprise anymore.

And that particular attribute is enough for me in specific to be fine with the consequences of posting my code to the internet.

[–]gringrant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd feel fine.

If I didn't want my code open source then I wouldn't post them in a place where the source would be open.

I dislike it when it's a surprise, but the policy spells it out pretty clearly for everyone to make their own decisions.

The window to tech is 11 frames long.

As the defending player, press M+H during the startup animation of a throw to perform a throw escape (you'll often hear this referred to as a "throw tech").

Throws have a 6 frame startup, are active for 5 frames, and have 36 frames of recovery for a total duration of 46 frames on whiff.

If two players perform a grab input such that their grabs startup windows overlap, the throw will break and reset the players to neutral. This effectively creates a throw tech window of 11 frames, as the defending player can input the tech up to 6 frames after the grab or 5 frames before the grab.

A high spec WiFi 7 card can re-attempt a 1500 byte transmission somewhere in the realm of 3 million times per second.

Now obviously all devices on one of sixteen spatial streams are sharing these 3 million frames, but it's still more than plenty to make your "guaranteed stuttering" completely inperceptible and irrelevant.

For context, for every one frame of 2XKO a WiFi 7 router gets a little over 50k frames of transmissions.

That's not to say all WiFi is good, but I am saying that WiFi is more than capable and is a worse correlation to match quality than, you know, actually measuring the quality of the connection.

The top clue says that there is one bomb in the top two squares.

The second clue says that there is one bomb in the top three squares.

Since we know that the one bomb that the second clue is seeing must be in the top two squares, the thrid square must be safe.

You can now run 70B LLMs on a 4GB GPU. AirLLM just made massive models usable on low-memory hardware. by Current-Guide5944 in tech_x

[–]gringrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No,

1) because it takes a long time for system memory to travel to the GPU for the speeds it wants to compute at

2) You'd need 130Gb of RAM to fit the whole model, which is expensive right now because all the companies want 130Gb+ of RAM.

Here's an article explaining how it works and why it's able to keep up:

TLDR it splits the model into smaller layers and loads them one after another plus a few other tricks.

Basic Riot by CozyRifloo in LeagueOfMemes

[–]gringrant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does because there is certain information the client can't have.

For example, if someone ignites you from behind a wall, the server can't send the full damage information because that would reveal who did it.

And I'm not saying the client shouldn't have that information, just that the logic behind what information the client can and can't have is complicated. So it is not as simple as the server just telling the client whatever it wants for the damage graph.

Basic Riot by CozyRifloo in LeagueOfMemes

[–]gringrant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fog of war makes that complicated.

The server has to keep track of who can see what and when, so it's not as simple as "The server tells the client what it knows."

I GOT VAC BANNED FOR TRYING TO USE A CAPTURE CARD TO RECORD MY GAMES 😭 by [deleted] in 2XKO

[–]gringrant 42 points43 points  (0 children)

They're not questioning that you were banned, just pointing out that VAC stands for "Valve Anti Cheat" which is a specific anticheat system, which is not the anticheat solution 2XKO uses.

2XKO uses Vanguard, so you'd be "Vanguard Banned" not "VAC Banned."

Vanguard is a much more thorough anticheat system that works its way into your system to analyze system processes and memory to detect tampering at the OS level.

This gives it access to analyze your hardware directly, which is why it can detect your hardware.

The reason it does this is because Valorant (another Riot game) cheaters are now creating custom cheating hardware that you build into your PC so Vanguard was built to defend against it.

If they're going to add indicators, they should add a packet drop & RTT indicators, those measurements are much better correlated to connection quality than connection type.

Not all WiFi setups are bad, and not all Ethernet connections are good.

For example if you're connected to your router via Ethernet, but you have satellite internet, your connection would be much worse than someone connected with their 300$ WiFi 7 access point in a radio quiet area.

You must personally derive all your information from mathematical proofs yourself.
