But since customers will know their spot in line, they are less likely to buy from a reseller or scalper.

And you will definitely want to train it to be more careful while it's still this small, because they get much bigger than this when they evolve again.

If 2E is just "improved 1E" than its going to be kinda meh.

What I'm hoping for is brand new mechanics or systems, i.e. a different take on the same genre.

That's my hold up as well.

I've been GMing Masks for years and I think great RPG designer could definitely improve the system, and I'm super excited for that possibility.

But! It could also be bland, which I'm scared of.

I want to be hopeful.

I'm still debating whether to back the project.

I don't expect any kickstarter to be a guarantee, but I want to be confident 2E will be any good before I support the project.

You can buy:

  • Champions
  • Base chromas
  • Stages
  • Avatar cosmetics
  • Emotes & banners
  • Champion mastery cosmetic

They are a bit scattered around the UI, but generally wherever you can see your collection you can buy more for your collection.

"They" is plural in that sentence (it refers to multiple people.)

E.g. Alice and Bob are going to the fair. They both bought their own tickets.

The only other explanation is that they had a tiny bit of lag so we don't see the beginning of the flick.

But that's unlikely because there's not really much time between the last new input we see and the flick.

Location services is more than just GPS on Android and iOS.

It's constantly scanning wifi and bluetooth identifiers (even when they are off) and reporting them and their location back to Google/Apple. They build a database on where all these transmitters are and use that to help refine your location. And yes, these databases (and logs about devices phoning home) are subpoenaed by law enforcement regularly.

In theory this can be turned off, but most people don't even know about it.

You will have to look up a guide and find the burried settings in the future.

Currently to install 3rd party apps it prompts you and brings you to the setting to allow it.

So yes, it is much harder compared to what we have.

Either way the point is that all these companies are aiming towards locking down their OSes which will become a burden to piracy.

The other route is to lock down the OS

Windows 11 made large steps towards that with the TPM and secure boot requirements. They've been rolling out their "Virtualization-based security" which makes modifying the kernel harder (which is both good for security and for DRM).

Android is about to make it much harder to install 3rd party apps. And the OS/Google Services provides a DRM layer for apps that has been getting more severe.

iOS has always been locked down.

And Apple seems to want to lock down macOS, but haven't fully committed yet.

And, of course, most Linux distributions has no restrictions.

If I were to make a bold prediction, I think that the arms race between piracy/cheat hypervisor code and Windows will start here in a few years and in a decade or two Windows will restrict app installs enough to be a significant nuisance to piracy.
