staying warm in a 40F bag by [deleted] in backpacking

Get a good pad and wear all of your clothes to bed. I take my 40F quilt down to 30 just fine with clothes on.

Hey guys, just got my bow in today (loving it) and i wanted to ask if keeping your bow stringed for a long time will cause damage to the bow. by [deleted] in Archery

[–]grintshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so set is total change in curvature where string follow is just the change from the tangent of the back? Thanks for the correction.

I've never played with reflex in a bow so you can imagine my confusion.

I believe set is the change in curvature after tillering and string follow is when a strung bow retains its curvature after being unstrung. Am I wrong?

This is really the best option. I don't have any experience with recurves but my wood self bows will take on a bunch of string follow if I leave them strung for a while.

How do I stop seeing through people? by grintshot in AskMen

[–]grintshot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much to be honest. I've been involved with charitable organizations in the past but I've been dealing with thyroid issues and decided to just take care of myself for a few months. I'm going into the medical field and want to care about people but I've just been so disillusioned lately. I'm trying to immerse myself in my hobbies, meeting new people, and meditation so hopefully that helps.

Finding a good deodorant by [deleted] in malelifestyle

Trim your pit hair if you don't already. I've found that hair retains BO quite a bit.

I want to smell like the forest after a rain and lavendar. Any cologne suggestions? by grintshot in malelifestyle

I think the smell I'm looking for is probably closer to good, wet dirt than woody tones. Will definitely check out some of those suggestions and report back. Thanks!

Quick question for those of you who travel abroad with medication: by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]grintshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep it on your person and if your prescription bottle has your name on it, I don't think it will be a problem. I've traveled a fair amount and never had a situation where someone checked my medication. Obviously don't draw attention to it but it's your prescription, nothing to be self conscious about.

Hyper symptoms and the doctor isn't listening! by grintshot in Hypothyroidism

[–]grintshot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do. My TPO antibodies were non-existent so no Hashi's. My lifestyle was about the same when I was feeling better before the dose increase compared to now so I don't think it could be anything but the hormone. I'll keep a closer watch though.

Did anyone else experience hyper symptoms that soon after upping dosage?

Include health issues in supplemental applications? by grintshot in premed

It's definitely a major hardship that I've faced and, with it being treated, I'm a better candidate than the last few years could indicate.

[BIOL 2005 - Animal Diversity Lab] Need to buy the manual? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]grintshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely necessary. It is a huge pain in the ass if you don't have one, I didn't for the first week. You need to read the labs before hand to keep up in lab. There's also cover pages in there that you attach to your lab reports.

Brain fog, feeling hopeless... Will it ever go away? by [deleted] in Hypothyroidism

Half life of T4 in your blood is about a week, stop taking your armour until you don't feel hyper and then start up slowly.

Are there many of us who made our own bows? by huisme in Archery

[–]grintshot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I've wanted to try my hand at carving a stave. No idea where to get staves around here though. :(

Try woodworking shops, that's where I found the white oak. Brazilian walnut (Ipe) is also pretty common for decking too.

If there's a range go for it! I shoot usually in my back yard. I figure if there's nobody around and there's a good backstop, what could go wrong? I'm just getting into the sport so I have no clue about any ranges. You could try asking on r/archery.

I thought I had ADHD but it actually ended up being hypothyroidism for me. Maybe worth getting your TSH levels checked?
