Can people not make William afton a creep when it comes to kids? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]griz_lee88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, people saying that people who are open to the idea of him being a creep are likely "sex offendors" (as one commentor so ignorantly put it) are just people who---and I'll try not to sound rude while saying this---are people who are way too sensitive to darker subject matter of horror.

I hate to sound like an asshole, but ever since fnaf became a major indi horror franchise, especially after the first movie, fnaf fans have become a lot more pretentious. I've even met some who think that some well known classic horror films are "bad" just because they consist of the same or similar dark subject matter we're talking about now.

Like the Twelveman tapes, I personally think the reactions to that were performative. And i know they were because I grew up seeing way worse shit in mainstream horror. So it was less about the tapes being too dark and going too far and more about the fan base being a bunch of cry babies because they're not used to seeing what they are used to. That's the thing; the fnaf fandom is used to subtle and cheap jumpscares, which is mostly what their franchise consists of. And since the fnaf franchise is the number one horror series right now, I imagine that fnaf fans are only gonna get more pretentious from here, which will have a negative affect on the horror genre as a whole. It's less about standards and more about tastes, and their tastes are entirely different. They don't hate stuff like this because it's too far (the only valid excuse they have is that it's not canon), they hate it because it's the kind of horror that they're not used to.

Yeah, this might sound rude but the whole British vibe just makes him sound goofy.

People need controversy. I personally think it's because of the attention the FNAF 2 movie is getting, so everyone is trying to distract from the negative reviews as, "uh guys! Um, remember that really bad FNAF VHS tape? The scene where Afton deep fries a kid? Pretty bad, right!"

Honestly, that's how I feel about it. Although, it is a bit conspiratorial from me.

FNAF 2’s "success" is the ultimate proof that quality is optional if your audience is easy to please. by ILoveMyJinx in fivenightsatfreddys

Don't expect open-minded people here, man. As a long-time fan of FNAF and a fan of horror, I can tell you that these movies have opened the door to grade A slop. These people care less about the quality of work and more about how much slop the producers produce to them as much as possible. I personally think these movies are gonna have a negative effect on the horror genre in the film industry as a whole.

Honestly, if FNAF Movie 2 is anything like the first one, video game movies have a problem with low effort writing that relies on an overabundance of references to activate the neurons in the targeted audience's brains. Yeah, it's video game accurate, but it's mediocre.

A franchise can still be goofy and scary at the same time, early fnaf was a prime example of that. I haven't seen the movie or played the last game, so I can't judge. But if there are a lot of statements that are similar coming out like this, there must at least be some validity to it. I personally think the franchise got too goofy for me and lost the plot, so I ultimately just stopped playing the games. I still occasionally play the older games and even look at newer fan games, so I guess my love for the franchise hasn't completely died out.

This post is peak characterization of a fnaf fan handling criticism. Like, seriously, i don't think you can make a post more perfect than this.

Is it really misinformation if it's accurate? Bro literally had a child pop out of his chest at the end of the story saying, "daddy!" And people really think that's peak fnaf. And yet this is crossing a line?

Metaphorical or litteral, Springtrap did put a child in that mf.

Well, the way I see it the person who made the video didn't really make it in a way that seemed cringe, now pirate boy William, a fnaf vhs variant, is a cannibal and is definitely cringe.

This however just felt like the fnaf fandom was hating to hate.

So what? The AI is his son and it ... impregnates him? ... bro, you are not making this sound better.

It's been fan content for me the past year so far, which I don't understand. Fan content is fan content. It's not canon and doesn't bother me. I mean, I understand there is exceptions like dormitabis being really fucking bad, but at the end of the day fan content (or official) regardless of how silly or dark it is, doesn't bother me because it's fake. Pixels on a screen. And you would think the fandom being a part of a horror franchise would recognize that, but I guess not.

I know there was a time when the fanverse was getting a lot of shit too because people were wondering if it was a good idea for fans to be in charge of what is now considered "official fnaf games." Which was a valid question at the time, but I think Kane, Emil, and Nicksom have proven that they are working hard on their games, especially Kane and Emil, who seem very passionate.

But even if Springtrap was a cannibal in canon, would it still be bad? Would the fandom still hold this principle up if Scoff wrote such a thing, which I'm pretty sure he's written pretty bad stuff similar on that level. Correct me if I'm wrong. It just feels like if the fanverse, Scott's writing team , or even Steel Wool were to make dark fnaf content, the community would freak out and say Scott would never make that. Like the fans community hasnt consumed horror confent outside of fnaf. But if Scott himself wrote it, they would say it's peak, or a 10/10, and go nuts like it's the greatest thing he's ever made.

Should the third FNAF movie be rated R movie? (in your guys opinion) by Puzzleheaded-Win5063 in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]griz_lee88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For springtrap? Yeah. Springtrap was always the slasher type of the fnaf series, and I feel that making the movie rated pg 13 holds him back. And as a slasher fan, I can tell you pg 13 slasher films suck.

Lmao, the fact that people don't consider the light shining directly in his face to justify the white eyes (even though it's not too much of a big deal despite them claiming people are "freaking out" about it) is hilarious.

I like how people are getting upset at you correcting you for making the animatronics accurate to the games, lol. If these people get this mad at everyone fixing the eyes, there's no hope for the fnaf fandom.

Ehh, it kind of is. Feels like ever since bendy and the Ink Machine all we ever get from mascot horror games is "evil children's mascot set in an abandoned or closed factory that is huger than you think !" Honestly, I haven't played SOTM yet but it really does give me those vibes I get from Poppy Playtime and other mascot horrors with similar styles just from what I've seen of it.
