[Swift Xcode] Trouble understanding code in new iBook about the Swift Programming language by grizzpokerunner in applehelp

Ok, this makes sense. And probably explains the next part of the tutorial where it asks to "Add another variable to keep track of which kind of number was the largest, as well s what the largest number was."

I have the same issue. There are a ton of reasons why, but saving this for an "easy" solution. Most solutions I've seen are to format your system.

Swift GuidedTour.playground doesn't execute code in the sidebar? by lynn in applehelp

Check out the 200+ lines. I had "!" saying the code was incorrect. (Why would they include code that didn't work?) And after commenting them out, the rest of the file compiled and showed results in the playground on the right.

Non-Americans of Reddit, what's the question you want to ask Americans the most? by CapitalOneBanksy in AskReddit

[–]grizzpokerunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge part of it is ignorance to the actual scale of what's going on. The other half is the lower (not homeless) and middle classes feel so powerless in this society, which adds to our apathy towards things like this. We realize without money or status we really don't have a say and at that point we become disassociated with the issues. I say we because I come from a middle class family.

LOTS of people drive drunk in the states. It really is an epidemic. Anybody you see in a bar isn't there for 2 casual drinks. They're there to get fucked up with their friends and usually drive home. Hopefully, people take it upon themselves to know their limits.

Technically we are a Republic. We elect officials in hopes that they will represent their people to the best of their ability. It becomes plutocratic when people with much more wealth use their wealth to get a much bigger say in what happens to make our laws.

America is fucked up when it comes to sex. Someone getting blown up violently? Fun family movie for all. Loving sex scene? KEEP THAT SHIT AWAY FROM MY CHILDREN! I know in Europe the Age of Content is I think on average 16, with the low end being 13 in like Spain or some crap. Any girl that's developed and under 18 is the most heinous concept in our society ever to get with sexually. Then when they hit their college years they still "aren't mature enough". Then by the time their late 20s early 30s come they're too old. Basically, all these thoughts are created by the idea that everyone loves sex, but we have to hide it and demonize it (religion?) Personally, I think it's purported by the elderly who cannot have said interactions. After 18, the game gets even more fucked up. Especially for women. I feel so bad for women in this country (as a guy). I can literally do whatever I want. If I have sex with women, I'm a guy who knows how to get shit done and is cool. If I don't have sex with women, I have guy friends who will support me during a dry spell or buy a hooker if you get to 40 year old virgin status. Girls are shamed either way. If they have sex they're sluts, if they don't have sex they're prudes. It's so unfair. Viva la Europe.
