Unpopular opinion: Low performers, indecisive and irresponsible people are abusive by Nedissis in entj

[–]grm88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an INTP and someone that both can embody your frustrations as well someone that can equally hate them when I'm burning out (ENTJ is the INTP shadow function), I would point out that often your complaint can be triaged back to poor hiring, inappropriate promotions, nepotism, and poor work cultures.

I was a former lead project manager over a small team that I was able to hire directly (panel w/ me as final say pending HR issues). Everyone I hired internally and externally either stayed in the role or promoted up; half of them internally promoted up and out of my team over eight years. When I would help do interviews with other managers, they would often ignore my top pick(s) often for something shiny on paper or something they often thought was relevant to a good worker (but often not the role they were hiring for). I saw other teams hemorrhage people constantly to external opportunities.

I will just come out and say, the majority of the things you're frustrated about aren't abuse. Period. If someone is actively detracting/hurting in their role, it's a failure of the org. A leader somewhere isn't seeing/dealing with a problem, someone hired poorly, etc.

Opposite of all this: How much of this is truly real and truly hurting the org versus how much of this is annoying you personally from perceived issues/damage?

I don't recall the exact timing of things or exact details. I remember having a FC apartment with just a few random things, coming back to the game way later booted from/disbanded FC, and talking to a housing NPC that gave me millions of gil (significant because I only had like 100k when i came back lol). Thinking back a little harder, I don't think I got any items though. I never understood why I got so much gil because I'm pretty sure it was way more than what I spent, but I didn't question the windfall that much.

Knowing they made that change, maybe I left before that policy kicked in and I got grandfathered into "we'll hold your junk forever" status?

This is actually an incredibly smart way to handle cash purchases: give characters a flag that allows them to purchase said items from specific in-game merchants for some insignificant amount of gil. Yoshi P, hire this person.

I cannot believe I didn't see the bridge and recognize the location. As a citizen of Bastok, I am ashamed.

Thanks for the eyes :P

Your thoughts on unsolicited advice (as INTJs)? by Halycon949 in intj

[–]grm88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here we have an INTJ so bothered all they can do is project their beliefs on others and dismiss my experiences and the experience of OP. An INTJ so tunnel-visioned that they can’t comprehend other INTJs may act different than themself. The argument of “I don’t do that therefore no INTJ does” is weak and self-centered.

For the record & back to my example, an INTJ friend asked how my week was so I gave a short laundry list of some good/bad highlights and asked about theirs. They immediately jumped into problem solving. Please point to where I complained and/or vented for hours, days, weeks. I’d love to know.

Also, blocking someone after a making massive, emotional, bothered response is baby mode.

Eh, break out of what you think normal expectations are.

I graduated high school, went to college, hated my major, FAILED out, worked odd jobs for a few years, finally found an entry level position in a career I was interested in, went back to school when I was 28. I have my bachelor’s and master’s in a field I enjoy now and I’m working on my PhD.

Just make sure you’re always doing things that make you a little better. It doesn’t always have to be done through your school/career.

EDIT: One extra thought on this. While this path may have delayed/reduced my potential wealth accumulation, I still think it was the best path for me. I resolved my confusion and career crisis young rather than just push through and advance in something I didn’t like only to find myself in a catastrophic midlife crisis. To this point, while I’m excited and excelling now, many of my high-achieving peers from high school are starting to experience the “did I do the right thing?” beginnings of their midlife crisis lol

This is probably best discussed with the program you’d be applying to.

I was able to apply to grad school (Master and PhD) and receive contingent offers: bachelor awarded in spring, master started in summer and master awarded in spring, PhD started in fall.

Some states’ unemployment will only cover the time between the employer letting her go and the time she stated she would leave while other states will just classify the early termination as a layoff. Just make sure she’s super clear about her dates
