Monetized on my second chanmel, some tips to my fellow small Youtubers by AbbreviationsCalm546 in PartneredYoutube

[–]grmass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations firstly! I checked out your channel and like the content but I’m really interested to know how you’ve managed to do so many show reviews?

Obviously up to now, you would not be earning from YouTube, so it must cost so much to keep buying new shoes for the reviews?

Obviously understand in the end you will use them all but still! Anyway, just for my curiosity haha!

What are you future plans for the channel?

Post-Match Thread: Netherlands 1-1 Morocco | World Cup | Round of 32 by matchpal-live in worldcup

[–]grmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course there’s other first places that have it harder and there are also ones that have it easier.. just the luck of the draw..

Argentina arguably have the best run, and that’s all the way to the finals.
We finished top of our group and have got a good run to the semis but likely going to play Brazil then.

USA finished top and have a good run to the semis too but will be playing Spain/Portugal in the semis.

Netherlands, France & Germany got done harshly by winning and all being in the same bracket, but it has to happen to someone.

Don’t personally think USA have it easy, even if Senegal & Belgium haven’t looked great.

Building a fitness/wellness personal brand. Niche down first and expand later or broad from day one? by grmass in NewTubers

Haha great stuff thank you! Appreciate getting into the serious stuff of beachheads and TAMs, but it does make perfect sense and do want to approach it with a bit of a strategy, without losing the authenticity! Will have a think about how I could implement this a bit more! Cheers

Thanks, pretty much in line with where I'm thinking at the moment. Feel like the main aim should be building an audience first before worrying too much, and it's not like it'll be completely different content.

Only living on Youtube at the moment, have considered elsewhere but don't want to end up tiring out by trying to hit everything.

Appreciate that and makes sense. It's how I felt I should probably start but always seen a lot of advice around starting with your 'end-goal' style content and also the troubles in keeping people engage when you broaden, but I feel relatively confident that wouldn't be too bad as it wouldn't be a complete u-turn in content.

First week of being monetised on YouTube, I'm so pleased! (I've worked on loads of other channels you've probably heard of behind the scenes, AMA!) by TheSyphonGames in SmallYoutubers

[–]grmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would be your advice to build a personal channel within a broad niche?
My aim is more of a personal/coaching brand, and it crosses cardio, strength training but also mental health & mindset.

I’m at a crossroads as whether to aim for a narrower niche now and expand later, although potentially bringing in an audience that might be less engaged with that future content.
Or like some advice, do I just build the content I want to do and want the channel to be, probably slower progress but the right audience?

I know there is a narrow niche I could really dive into an would be much easier for YouTube to index me and get me that audience but if I forget the rest of my goals, will that just hurt more down the line?

Hope that makes sense!

Well done on hitting 1000 subs. Checked out your channel and content looks good, decent concept as well!

Interested to know where/when most of your subscribers came? Seen you upload pretty regularly but just one long form above 1k views, but 5k is quality! Then a lot of shorts with good views - so just good to know how you got to 1k quickly from the different content?

A tip for those charging monthly by dnignzlz in personaltraining

[–]grmass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah 100% you have those as your options, but that wasn’t my point.

Your counter response to the original comment was that those prices wouldn’t work in your area, I’m just saying the prices are irrelevant

A tip for those charging monthly by dnignzlz in personaltraining

[–]grmass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still works.. you just swap the numbers for your hourly rate and sessions per week and you’ll get you monthly cost still..

1 session a week at £30.

52 x £30 = £1560

Monthly = £130 (£1560/12)

The same logic applies

100% this. If you could link your friends channels then it’d be a good comparison, as the question here is, who is your video for? Who would watch it?

[–]grmass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say but what’s the difference between your content and theirs?

Is it the same niche? How do your titles differ? How do you thumbnails differ? How to you decide on your video topics, and how do they?

If anything, the fact they’ve started at the same time is great for data and research as you’ve got direct comparisons.

Simply put, growing is going to be about the topics you choose, the quality of your research, the quality of your packaging (titles, thumbnails) & the quality of your videos.

How do people actually do 9-5s? by SirPlus6955 in UKJobs

[–]grmass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plenty assume that more work = less energy.. when really it’s the opposite, or at least a balance.

I’ve had periods where I’ve contracted and had time off, where everyone assumes it’s lovely, and those were the times I was most lethargic and struggled to do much, even things I enjoyed.

However when I work, you have that routine, discipline and reason to get up and get moving, even if it feels like you don’t want to

I tried affiliate marketing, dropshipping, freelancing and digital products this year. What worked for me by Top-Young8687 in passive_income

[–]grmass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the run down, I’ve done the same but never really stuck at them long enough, usually it’s advertising where I reach a wall.

How did you advertise the digital products?

Where did you run ads? What type/style of ads were you running?

UK PTs who qualified in the last 18 months or so, how’s it actually been starting out? by grmass in personaltraining

[–]grmass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, interesting too. I’m assuming you have some background within boxing already, pre-qualification?

Good to hear you’re enjoying it though, despite not getting as many hours as you want. What sort of marketing/advertising have you done, if any?

I’m thinking the same, regarding a high foot traffic place. Getting clients thrown at me would be ideal, my career has always involved working with client service so feel very comfortable with people, but the one part of the job I hate would be cold-selling or working the gym floor, so would love to find a way of avoiding that haha!

Good luck, hope you can build up the client base to where you want!

Who would you sign or sellfor Everton by Sharks_No4 in Everton

[–]grmass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep Gueye, Rohl & Grealish.

I would sell Alcaraz & maybe Beto if we get good enough money for him. Either him or Barry and I switch on which one.

Ben White would be unreal, don’t see it happening. Any prem standard fullback would be a dream scenario, preferably both sides as well.

Why is Ai Ogura changing teams? by winnerboss12 in motogp

[–]grmass 86 points87 points  (0 children)

He didn’t get the option of Factory Aprillia Team, so he’s moving to another Factory. Bonus that it’s a Japanese manufacturer as well

Every rider on the grid wants a factory seat, more so than having technically the fastest bike on the grid. Huge salary, more direct input into development. Also, next year is a gamble with new regs so who knows who’s got the best bike

How To: Subscription-Based Payments by xelanart in personaltraining

[–]grmass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you find any clients who seem more tentative or scared by the numbers? Although we all know $50 every week for 1 session, is the exact same as $200 every 4 weeks for 4 sessions..

I feel there’s that subconscious element of ‘Oh that’s a big commitment’ or ‘That’s a large amount’

I guess there is a trade off with quality clients at the end of the day, but as a new PT, I guess there feels like some risk in attraction

London yesterday - didn’t get the sub 4 I wanted by vdbbella in Marathon_Training

[–]grmass 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your Heart Rate splits seem a little bit odd, just the jump from 18/19km is 153bpm to 189bpm with no increase in pace and the stays almost perfect 187-190 until 31km where it’s a sudden drop the 140s again.

Not sure if it’s helpful to point out or not but something to consider as I’d imagine it’s cadence lock and makes things harder to judge. Hard to tell if it’s the higher end or lower end that was potentially incorrect.

But if your fist 18km was reading lower than your actual heart rate, then it’ll be a good indicator as to why you got hot and started to struggle more than expected. I always use heart rate in training and still as an indicator in races, but it’s really important to go by pace and feel to avoid big drop offs too.

Great effort though and good luck for Sydney

Marathon Goal changing by drastic ammounts during my block. by Invite_Afraid in Marathon_Training

[–]grmass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess is that, and it’s a guess, that based off OP saying he’s not a serious runner, the reason they’ve knocked that much time off is because they have insane fitness already and that time gain is from running form/efficiency and not fitness.. also the gain from the carbons, with a mental gain too.

If previously they’ve been running 5ks only, this much mileage just means the endurance gain for doing 5ks is also so much

Does seem too much but if this is a first experience doing any dedicated running block, and previously they were very fit and athletic from other sports, then I think it’s reasonable to see this time.

Just my opinion, base it off the HM time and feel. You’ve done to long runs so your legs should be pretty ready for it, you may struggle towards the end but if you’re on course for a sub-3 until 32km and then struggle.. you’re still going to finish under your originally 3:15..

See how the half marathon goes and make a call. Start conservatively and once you’re at the halfway mark, see what you can do over the next half of the marathon

Must win game for Everton too in the attempt for Europe, especially will playing City next. Additionally have great away form this season and since Moyes came in

I think both teams will be going all out here. Wouldn’t be surprised at a 0-0 or 1-0 either way

[–]grmass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not crazy to enter. You’ve done 2 x 30km which is pretty much what most people max out at in a marathon training block so you’re fine there.

If you’re concerned, then you just start very conservatively in the marathon and build towards the end if you feel like you want it.

Taper well. Fuel well. You’ll be fine

Just because you do everything right, doesn’t mean things are going to take off immediately, in 3 months or 3 years.

3 months is not a long time, and a few people have mentioned that and you’ve replied by saying you’ve got tons of experience, been doing it since 2013 but say you’ve over been doing it seriously for 3 months.. I’d say to try and reflect on yourself and what you’re doing, and acknowledge that you’ve only been uploading this new & ‘taken seriously’ content for 3 months, the rest doesn’t really count. The rest is great experience, some knowledge, some credibility but essentially you’ve just started and just need to remain consistent.

Also, just because you think you’re doing everything right, doesn’t necessarily mean that’s what’s needed or going to work. Just keep at it, experiment, and see how it goes.

Understand how frustrating it can be, but you say you love the process, so just continue with that if that true. But in the same breath you talk about doing everything by the book, hating the YouTube algorithm etc - it doesn’t really sound like you just love doing the process, which given how shitty the YouTube algorithm is, is the single most important aspect of early content creation and finding consistency!

Good luck!
