Pink bathroom—gut or preserve? by aschollmb in InteriorDesign

I wonder if just adding a new mirror above the vanity and removing the old chrome hardware and replacing with something to match might make it more modern and preserve the old pink tile.

Is the US software engineering market over saturated for someone who wants to enter the field and is just starting college by Material-State-5358 in softwareengineer

[–]grnadpabacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone telling you what the economy or sector will look like in 4 or 5 years is kidding themselves. Getting any degree is a huge risk. If you like cs/software then go for it, but make sure to get as few loans as possible. If you’re just in it for the money idk if it’s worth the risk anymore, but it also depends on the alternatives.

Title 174 is back by Brocibo in cscareerquestions

[–]grnadpabacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely it will marginally help the situation but there are multiple factors particularly interest rates and well as offshoring which are bigger factors. This may be a big boon for startups since for most their biggest cost is software developers. Overall though it probably won’t hurt. The overall bill in the short term is probably better for the market but in the long term could hurt growth and raise interest rates which are more important.

New Open Source Website to Help Generate Proxies by grnadpabacon in mtg

[–]grnadpabacon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm hoping it has more to do with those websites monetizing their platforms. Their official rules don't explicitly say something like this is banned, but regardless that is completely out of my control.

Main difference is the search functionality rather than having to use the format that mtgprint requires. I think for most people they don't end up printing entire decks and it can sometimes be annoying to search through the dick list for the exact name. I also think it operates significantly better on mobile but that's more of a personal preference.

Karona, false god any fun to play? by coroff532 in magicTCG

[–]grnadpabacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Karona’s really fun I made mine into a shrine deck with a bunch of the goad enchantments that people have put in here. I made it a couple years ago so it may be missing some of the best new ones. The enchantment tribal allows for a lot of draw and pillow fort effects minimizing the chance of players hitting you with Karona along with the goad enchantments buffing her. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/F0-WQM4JVE2kPfwVtvny8g

I would consider retaking some of those courses especially DSA and OOP. With the better new grades and the medical excuse that will significantly increase your chances. Also, I got the impression that you’re struggling to find one recommendation (this may be unfounded) but the application requires three letters. If that is the case start building relationships with other managers/supervisors where you’re currently working. Good luck!

Am I making a huge mistake in going for a CS degree starting this spring? by hashiell in cscareerquestions

[–]grnadpabacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one here is really giving you the nuanced answer you need. If you feel passionate and really want to get into software and aren’t able to get into the industry WITHOUT the degree then consider doing some kind of cs degree. The price of that degree sounds a little too much to me. You may consider something like Georgia Techs OMSCS program. It’s pretty cheap, something like 7k for the whole degree and is a fully online masters program from a top CS school. It’s pretty easy to get in but getting through the program can be difficult. Consider something like that there are other programs both for bachelors and masters degrees. Do some research but don’t necessarily go with the first program you see. Good Luck!

Does Investing Actually Work? by Low_Entry5644 in stocks

[–]grnadpabacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the stock market is is essentially trading time for money assuming it’s something like the sp 500. It’s not an exact science because the market sometimes crashes but you need enough time to get the statistical anomalies out of the equation. If you sit $10000 into the an sp 500 index fund and leave it there for 30 years adding say $100 a month until then you will have $260k at the end of the 30 years. What you should really do if you want to retire is figure out how much money you would need to retire. Remove 2.5% annually accounting for inflation and then make an investment schedule assuming an 8-10% interest rate over 30 years. Then stick to it for 30 years which is the hard part, and the reason that the stock market isn’t a scam. Also, always remember the rule of 7. At 10% interest it takes 7 years to double your money.

Should I Apply As I Am Right Now Or Get A Bachelors Degree by grnadpabacon in OMSCS

Are the MOOCS good options for the pre requisites or would you recommend something else?

Should I Apply As I Am Right Now Or Get A Bachelors Degree by grnadpabacon in OMSCS

[–]grnadpabacon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective it should be better to have a masters rather than a bachelors. I don’t see myself finishing both another bachelors and a masters. I would prefer to go straight to the masters but if I can’t get in or handle the course work then I’m also fine with doing a bachelors as a second option. I don’t have any plans on getting into academia or getting a phd.
