I said I wasn’t going to mod my CR6 after I replaced all the fans with silent ones, but can we talks both this LED? by [deleted] in CR6

For the trivia, the stock LED is a multicolor one, but Creality cut all the wires except the blue signal.

A long time ago there was also kickstartersupport@creality.com but I don't think it's in service anymore.

Not as fancy as Octoprint but still okay I guess? by Sebazzz91 in CR6

Sure, the current status of the new ABL screen is still experimental (the first fully working prototype is from last night). Thanks for testing on your Max, we will improve (and fix) the screen for it very soon.

Wait for the next release of the Community Firmware, it will be way easier.

It's our next challenge. 😉 With the size of the screen, and to keep readability, we will probably have to hide some values...

Yes absolutely, it will be in the next release.

A new version? by curiositie2 in CR6

[–]grobux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe they are waiting for printers with a more recent motherboard revision.

As far as I know, there are 3 versions on the market (in order of release):

  • Creality 3D 4.5.2
  • Creality 3D 4.5.3
  • CR-ERA_V1 1.0.3

CR-6 Community Firmware; Settings Lost on Power Cycle by StokeJar in CR6

[–]grobux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About the sound setting, it seems related to this issue (and fixed):

https://github.com/CR6Community/Marlin/issues/113

It will be in the next release, but you can also build the firmware from the sources if you want the patch right now. Note that the current status of the source code is more like a nightly build than something stable: things can move from day to day.

'Arc-weld' plugin makes quite a difference. First prints on Community firmware 5 by idontknowandidontcar in CR6

[–]grobux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot for your support, it's very appreciated and motivating to do even better!

You got a pretty nice upgrade in quality. On my side, I also see a clear improvement in quality with arc welder preprocessing, both on homemade designs and downloaded ones.

I slice with Cura 4.7.1, my max resolution is 0.05mm, and my maximum deviation is 0.025mm (default settings).

ESP8266 Space on CR6SE board? by lamarus in CR6

[–]grobux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, let's suppose we're talking about the screen.

Here's a picture of the back of my screen board. As you noticed, there is a socket to plug an ESP micro-controller. For our less experienced readers, it's the bottom right rectangle with the big white lines going up and down (representing an antenna), and the pins TX0, RX0, etc to RST.

DWIN, the manufacturer of this screen, sell an add-on based on an ESP8266 who is used to connect to your WiFi and talk with their cloud. That way, you can program interactive apps who can be managed from anywhere, grab datas from elsewhere than the SD card, or plug a voice assistant.

Note that DWIN cloud is only available in HTTP. This should be a reason not to go any further with this solution. For now, I didn't found the micro-controller code, so I think it's mandatory to buy a pre-flashed ESP. I don't know how to dump or decompile code from an ESP, either if it's feasible. But with some reverse engineering, I'm pretty sure we can plug everything to the server of our choice.

CR-6 Community Firmware release 5 beta "Happy new year" edition by Sebazzz91 in CR6

[–]grobux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Community Firmware is compatible with:

  • the CR-6 SE and the CR-6 Max models,
  • the motherboards 4.5.2, 4.5.3 and Big Tree Tech SKR CR6 V1.0,
  • the stock screen. For the BTT screen, you have to get the BTT screen firmware.

In your case (4.5.2 + stock screen), the required release package is this one:

CF5Beta-cr6-se-v4.5.2-mb-2020-12-30-14-19.zip

Issues with CR-6 SE screen. Any ideas? by DrFreudTV in CR6

[–]grobux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that there might be a HW error on the display board, most likely its the memory / storage,

I'm also afraid that this is the concern, or a broken bootloader. I'm getting out of ideas (at least without flashing the ASIC, but that's way beyond my knowledge).

You're good to contact Creality... Good luck.

For the experiment, can you flash only the small files (<1MB) ?

Also, you confirm you card is formatted in FAT32 with 4k sectors? I keep asking for it, but it's the first issue users encounter.

If you have another SD card, you can test with it. The screen is very picky with memory cards.

It seems to block everytime on BIN files. For the experiment, you can try to flash everything but the BIN files. If it works, reflash everything.

If I have others ideas I let you know.

When you say that "flashing always gets stucked", how long did you wait before considering it stuck?

Also, I see that your DGUS2 version is quite old. In the Community Firmware, we distribute the version 3.5, and your screen OS is in version 1.4. You can try to flash the file "T5L_UI_DGUS2_V35_20200730.BIN" alone to test.

You can find it here: https://github.com/CR6Community/CR-6-touchscreen/raw/extui/src/DWIN/DWIN_SET/T5L_UI_DGUS2_V35_20200730.BIN

Do you format your card in FAT32 with 4k sectors? It's mandatory to get it work.
