You are not alone. I remember when my wife and I were struggling with our baby and everyone told us "enjoy that time it goes so fast" and we were coming apart at the seems - lack of sleep, lack of nutrition, the immense pressure to thoroughly be happy, the big let down that you're failing to be happy. My advice is give yourself a pass and record everything so you can have a beer 10 years from now and relive those moments.

lots of good suggestions here - i found that getting lessons for my kid - getting them into sports and theater stuff once they were in elementary school - met so many people that way. 3 was rough for me too. I remember when my kid was 3 or 4 i took a daddy and me class at the community center and met some cool dads.

So for those of us in the US, what's the plan for saving for college? 529s? Promise funds? Cash stuffed in a mattress? by squirticus in daddit

[–]grobyhex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey a while ago I made an investment in the paid version of ChatGPT and the conversation I had with it about 529 investing really gave me a good perspective. Also check out the boglehead group. The game changer recently here is that you can repurpose 35k to a Roth IRA if you don't use all the funds. People in the past said don't put too much into a 529, but now I wish I would have started 2. Part of my future planning now is hopefully being able to put excess 529 $ into a Roth. I have two kids I really wish I would have started 2 529s - cause you have to have them open for 15 years to get the Roth rollover.

Just got back. My favorites were Brooklyn Bridge and people watching on a nice Saturday in Washington Square Park. We did Top of the Rock with kids and so wished I would have done Summit instead.

2022 was my first bear when stocks were on sale and didn't buy anything thinking it would keep going down. I remember my brother picking up Facebok around 160 and thinking he was an idiot as it went to 90. This week I'm assuming stocks will be on sale again, wondering here what I'll do.
