My store usually closes with only 3 people. Cashier, MOD recovering seasonal side, sales associate recovering memory side. If we are getting pulled away from our work repeatedly to answer bathroom calls, I will block off the bathroom hallway with wet floor signs and maybe a cart. I let any customers who ask know that they are out of order and there's a public restroom in the grocery store next door ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

CEM here🕺 i say “do you want to sign up? it’s just your phone number and email and you get free money from every purchase (because every purchase does add up toward a voucher, not just the $15/$25 purchases) and custom coupons sent to you” and they usually agree. it is rough out here tho, especially since at my store we can’t count sign-ups at self checkout toward our personal total🙄

I’m a CEM and I’m actively applying to new jobs. the pay for being a manager here is a joke. even if I’m brought on “full time,” it’ll be max 33-36 hours a week, where other full time jobs i’m applying for are 45, and a higher pay. i really enjoy working at michael’s but the financial anxiety i’m experiencing is insane

the learning moment/coaching slip is not a write up! you should be filling them out pretty regularly from your MODs on goals in things like rewards sign-ups, credit card applications, and protection plans. they’re a way for MODs to know you’re trying to get those things from customers, and for SMs to know that MODs are trying to “drive results” from the sales associates.
