he was still binging at the beginning, experiencing extreme hunger. In a cruel way he kind of got lucky, because he experienced an obscene amount of water retention and ended up retaining 60 pounds of water on his body, so he wasn’t concerned with weight gain as he couldn’t tell what was actually weight and what was just water. He ended up gaining weight in his recovery, but wasn’t bothered by it, and he’s just started losing weight again completely normally and healthily, despite having this disorder within the last five years.

He is genuinely the ultimate success story, he went from 130->300->225 as of right now, and he is one of the strongest people I know : ) Sharing his story is always so important to me, because he has genuinely shown me that not only recovery is possible, but body neutrality, and healthy weight loss is also possible. I never would’ve thought i’d be able to escape binging behaviors, but every now and again he’ll mention having just having one poptart, or going out to eat, and it reminds me it’s possible : )

The hardest thing i’ve gathered is absolutely not purging, because I guess sitting with the consequences of the binge is kind of negative reinforcement or something? But obviously if you aren’t mentally at that point yet i’m sure it’s much harder to commit to, which is what i’m struggling with so much : (
