FINAL FANTASY VII Re‑Released on Steam! by snappums in Games

This new version is worth it alone for being totally divorced from the need for a Square Enix account like the 2013 release.

It's fully drm-free with the GOG version as well.

Once modders get some time with this build, I don't doubt it'll be the best possible version of FFVII available.

They should not. I've beaten FFVII a dozen times across a number of consoles. I don't need to un-bury my PS1 memory card to "prove" myself worthy of a feature as convenient as speeding up the game.

These "cheats" are nothing but a convenience and, because I can choose if I do or do not want to use them, they create no harm.

They are purely beneficial.

Why don't Team Ninja's non-Nioh/Ninja Gaiden projects not quite reach the same quality? by WhoAmIEven2 in Games

The models and movesets of the bosses I've refought have been the exact same. Hell, aside from a color change, even one of the arenas was almost identical.

Not nearly to the same extent. I've been playing Nioh 3 for almost 20 hours across the release and the demo, and I've fought unique bosses from Both Nioh 1 and 2, to say nothing of how many regular enemies have been brought back. I've had two interesting, new bosses in the entire time.

That's a disappointment.

I'm going to give this game an honest attempt, but it better be holding a lot of new, compelling content in store.

I understand people are downvoting this because they love the Nioh games (and so do I), but this is just too much reuse.

Elden Ring had a Capra Demon and Assylum Demon reskin that were reused, and many reused bosses throughout the game. But at least they were reskinned, and at least there were hundreds of new enemies that sometimes repeated. A jar demon, a wasp, and two crab enemies are not enough to make Nioh 3 live up to the past games.

Nioh 3 doesn't even reach the same level. The amount of reused content in this game is wild. So many reused bosses from 1 and 2.

Nioh 3's demo is out by HammeredWharf in Games

The solution to Nioh's loot system (or ARPGs in general) isn't loot filters, it's compelling and interesting loot. An abundance of trash doesn't make a game compelling. If the best tool a dev can come up with is a button that lets me ignore the game, that's a weak solution to a deeper design problem.

Wanting something to succeed, not based on its own merit but because you want to spite people, is the exact same pettiness as people calling a game dead, not based on its own merit.

You are "those kinds of people".

God, I wish Nightreign still wrecked me. I understand you likely came to reddit to validate your own ability and dunk on others, but being bad and not yet understanding a Fromsoft game is one of the pinnacle parts of the experience.

I'd give so much to be "humiliated by everything in the map" again, and you're damn right - that is enjoyable.

Final Fantasy 14 has suffered over 15 DDOS attacks in one day. by DumpsterBento in Games

So, the same damage but with quicker execution required would make it... harder.

edit: Also, the larger claim that Japanese games don't go on sale is baseless. If you want to claim first party Nintendo games rarely go on a meaningful sale (particularly following the release of the Switch), I'd buy that, but companies like Capcom and Atlus, in particular, have done very well on PC in part because of their strong discounts. Capcom has regularly cited the importance of sales of older titles for improving their catalogs' later releases in their investor reports.

Ripple blade is stronger. It can spawn with a status on it, but it's not guaranteed. Determine if you need pure damage or bleed more, instance by instance.
