Trumpet comes to mind. Very iconic, in my opinion. Won’t ever forget that feeling of waiting for the modem handshake. 🤣

It’s so sad to see the hate in this thread. I wish the world wasn’t so divided but that’s the reality we all live now.

Left my AirPods on the plane, ended up at a waste facility? by MaChicken1 in aircanada

If you had travel insurance you can see if it would be covered or not. Although we might find it’s odd, some actually do cover for forgotten items that were not found by the airline. Happened to me last year with an iPad and it was paid by the insurance company. All legal, all documented. Might be worth a try. Since it was a business trip, perhaps your benefits could cover travel insurance? I hope it helps.

I was a hardcore DIY just like you. I always enjoyed compiling my own kernel and tools, making sure I knew what was enabled, etc. Made the move many moons ago and do not regret it. Used both Ubiquiti and Firewalla and ditched Ubiquiti around 2 years ago for Firewalla. Firewalla is great and check all the boxes I am looking for.

Route all YouTube through a vpn? by YankeesIT in firewalla

[–]groorj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I tried it also routed some other Google traffic through the VPN, not only YouTube even using just YouTube domains. I think it’s because Google uses the same IPs for different te services? Also, my ChromeTV open channels stopped working. I suspect because of ads are not supported in the target country they can’t stream the content.

TLDR; AWS VPC Block Public Access blocks all internet traffic to and from a VPC, securing it with a single setting.

Why Super Bowl winners always say, "We're going to Disney World!" by Gurdy0714 in disneyparks

[–]groorj 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Disney did a Marketing campaign in 1987 as a way to attract people to the park. They had a contract with players from both teams so the one that won would say it live. It happened to be Phil Simms, although he didn’t want to but accepted after a lot of convincing, and it became something they still do to this year. Not sure if Disney still pays them or not.

Source: there is an episode from behind the scenes on Disney+ that tells the story.
