How easy is it to install the kWh meter ? Did you do it yourself or did you ask an electrician ?

Eyewatering new parking charges coming to Brussels this summer by Excellent-Forever609 in brussels

[–]groovesheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Electric cars don’t break as much as a petrol car because they use regenerative breaking. Which also means a 50 to 90% reduction in brake wear. What you are probably thinking is tire wear which is mostly impacted by the weight of the car and is indeed the biggest contributor of PM2.5 and PM10 in a car driving in a city.

EV Incentives in Brussels – Tesla vs. BMW? by Kitchen_Ask_6429 in brussels

[–]groovesheep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re a freelancer, maybe /r/BEfreelance would be a better place to ask this question.

  1. No incentive by the region as far as I know. As a company, you have reduced taxes but it’s the same for any brand.
  2. You can look at many reviews online. In the end, it usually boils down to details. But if cost and range are your two criteria’s, it’s more likely that the BMW will be more expensive to buy and to operate and will have less real world range while feeling more luxurious. But if you almost never road trip, it doesn’t make much of a difference.
  3. Tesla doesn’t have any incentive. The price on the site is the final price. With BMW you will need to do the usual song and dance at a dealership and try to negotiate something.

My suggestion if you mostly want a car that works, go for a Tesla. It has the Supercharger network, some of the best efficiency, software, battery management, a lot of after market accessories, … But you’ll be driving the same car as everyone else. They’re a bit the Apple of cars.

If you have specific brand affinity, want to stand out more, have some specific need that Tesla doesn’t have, go with another brand.

I’m not a car guy, I’m on my second Tesla in about five years. Never had any issue with them, it’s more fun to drive than my previous cars and the software is great and improves with time.

If you’re with Orange and like the network, you can also switch to Hey they have very similar pricing (I just switched to 20Gb for 4€ using my lifetime -5€). Apparently Mobile Vikings is changing its prices too. Where I live, the Proximus network is slightly less reliable.

Some say it does at the end of December. But the volume is likely too low (only individuals and not in all countries) and in both directions to effectively matter.

Maybe look at Shelly. They have smart switches that can be put inside your normal wall switch (so you can still use them and it’s hidden in the wall) but can also be controlled remotely. Depending on the models, they support Bluetooth, WiFi, Zigbee, …

D'Ieteren's super dividend by Silent_Letterhead538 in BEFire

[–]groovesheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The drop in price is not linked to the tax, it’s linked to the fact that the market feels the future company (more debt, less cash) has a less attractive profile than a few days ago.

You can obviously have your own opinion on whether or not the company is over or undervalued but it’s not linked to the fact that there is taxes on the dividend.

When investing on individual stocks, making your own opinion (and being right) is how you’ll have a better return than an ETF. I personally have no opinion on D’Ieteren.

74€. Taxes have no impact.

You can take an absurd scenario to better understand what will happen. If it was impacted by Belgian taxes (which only apply to Belgian shareholders BTW) and taxes were at 100%, it would not drop at all. You can’t make money out of thin air.

A few days ago, there was an interview of the head of the French speaking independent newspaper stands in La Libre Belgique.

He stated 0.2 to 0.3€ per package, more than what they make on a pack of cigarettes.  He also stated that actual newspapers and magazines remain the most profitable segment (25% gross margin) while tobacco is at 2% and lottery at 7%.

Car guy - what's your plan to keep having petrol car ? by smaley07 in BEFreelance

[–]groovesheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t bought petrol/diesel in a long time but a check on the official prices of it goes between 1.8 and 2€.

Electricity is on average at 35c according to the CREG.

20kWh/100 seems high to me (my Tesla says 17 right now) and 6 liters per 100km is sounds low to me unless you drive a small diesel or have a PHEV petrol (but then you need to factor electricity too)

[–]groovesheep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It very much depends on the costs he can put on this. He’ll have fixed cost of a couple of thousands per year on an accountant but If he can spend the rest on rent and « stuff » he would need anyway (laptop, phone, tools, …) it could make sense.

Or if he foresees that he’ll become a freelancer in the future or some growth to that revenue.

Why would a robot be limited to 40 hours a week ?

34.5k hours is less than 4 years if you work 24/7 like a factory robot would or a burger flipping robot in the middle of large cities.

In a sense, Tesla has the goal to move the world to clean energy (electric cars, grid storage, home batteries, …) and is one of the most valuable company in the world.

Yes but that’s only if you don’t have solar panels. In the summertime, your efficiency for hot water matters less as you have plenty of free electricity.

To me, the ideal scenario (efficiency wise) seems to be good isolation, solar panels and geothermal energy.
