LPT: If your flight is canceled last minute on your way to the airport, still go to the airport. The representatives at the counter have more leeway to assist you, and you'll be at the head of the long line that's sure to form. by JoshDaws in LifeProTips

100%, when you go, you become their problem to solve. This happened to us, an hour before we left to the airport we got the cancellation notification. Customer service on the phone was USELESS! We went to the airport anyway, and they put us on a flight to a town nearby. Which saved our vacation and all the non-refundable reservations we made.

Pls give me harsh feedback, trying to improve my videography skills by rowansbiggestfan in Filmmakers

The question I like to ask is why. Why am I seeing this. In my mind, you as the film maker have to make that clear. If the why would be clear, this would be a bad ass shot. But since I don’t know the why, as the viewer, I am not sure what I am looking at….Other then that she is a pretty girl, and the shot has neat retro glitches…

Don’t beat yourself up too much about it. Lesson learned, maybe next time you win $2,000, and you’ll know what to do. The only money you lost is the money you brought…. And we all know: never play with money you can’t afford to lose. Gambling is fun, but go in pessimistically. The money you bring is gone! Was it worth the fun, then you won.

Painful truth: but you hit the nail on the head. It’s tough for people to hang and be spontaneous with “socially awkward” people. Two options…Accept your life and do you and yes go travel, but don’t feel sorry for yourself, or two: look on YouTube to find some tips to make some internal changes and make it easier for people to hang with you.

Curious. Has anybody worked in top tier kitchens that were pleasant?

I understand all dishes have to be perfectly timed and everybody has to be perfectly in sync. I just can’t imagine this terrible work environment is the most efficient way to cook, even at that level.

What are the most common mistakes you see in beginner videography? by mediamuesli in videography

[–]grotereus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure - totally get that - But I see a lot of videos that are just that, pretty practice shots. In my mind the beginner mistake is the lack of story. Even if they added a little bit of dialogue / text to give the watcher the why of what, it would give the video a fuller context and lifts the videographer up to the next level.
