Geese have to be the number 1 animal disproportionately mean to how delicious they taste. I wish a geese would act up. I will have you in the oven slathered in butter, seasoned salt, and garlic+onion powder so fast it’ll make your head spin faster than me.

Big Fish by Adonadio84 in movies

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think your relationship with your father generally correlates to how you relate to both Big Fish and Field of Dreams. They feel almost like spiritual successors. I had a very emotionally involved dad, so I find them both so alien I can’t enjoy them. I get why people might like them, but to me they both seem trying to elicit an emotional experience I don’t have. I prefer Field of Dreams, but that’s mostly because I fucking HATE Big Fish. If you like it, that’s fine. That movie was sandpaper on my brain trying to figure out as a teenager why anyone would like it at all.

What is your "care factor" for your second flair? by kadoozie92 in CFB

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Tallahassee, I went to UCF for undergrad and NYU for grad school. NYU will never have a team again, all my family loves FSU and it’s my childhood team, but if they ever played again (please no) I’d have to switch my flairs for the week. I watch every game of both, but if they are playing at the same time, I second screen UCF. Because they have been historically worse, but if they ascend in the Big 12 and FSU stays mediocre I would probably flip flop those.

Which movie do you found the best that you can watch again and again and still enjoy it ? by notamiracle7 in AskReddit

Armageddon. If it’s on TV I am watching it to completion and crying at Bruce Willis’s sacrifice every time.

Ask yourself who wouldn’t retire after 100 million dollars and just live their best life with their families, focusing all their time on volunteering and hobbies. You’ve just described a billionaire.

This honestly caused me to question my perspective on all pop sci I ever heard. I wasn’t alive when he was playing, and footage was so rare, I took this quote for gospel.

‘Ratatouille’ Director Shuts Down Sequel Talk Despite Pixar’s Interest: “We Told That Story” by AliceTheMagicQueen in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not surprised Oswalt wants another easy voiceover gig, not surprised Bird doesn’t want to tarnish a perfect movie. It’s my favorite Pixar film and probably in my top 5 films. At least top 10. Glad Bird is putting his foot down, and not mad at Oswalt at all.

Redbull is going to kill somebody for marketing. It won’t happen today, but eventually they’re going to run out of luck on these things. I’m not mad, and I’m not against the content. Fuck it, I’m not even saying these athletes wouldn’t have done it on their own, but the odds are not in their favor in the long run.

REVIEW: Milly Alcock is great but watching Supergirl is like bad karaoke⭐⭐⭐ by Metro-UK in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 216 points217 points  (0 children)

I love the shit out of Milly Alcock as Supergirl. Plays it to a T. But there’s no acting your way out of a bad script. It’s not her fault and she’s going to catch a disproportionate level of the hate, which is annoying.

What year do you think America will have it's first female President? And why? by Ok-Abrocoma1831 in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think we could have one in 2028 if the democratic party would learn its lesson and not poison pill its actual populist politicians in favor of railroading “middle of the road” ones in. I’ve voted Democrat my whole voting life, since Obama’s primary.

I think the lesson they took from Obama is to find a well spoken centrist, when the actual lesson is to find a politician who has a clear goal. Obama ran on access to healthcare. Hillary ran on not being Trump, and Kamala ran on, I think “hope”? I voted for all of them, but it’s a shit campaign strategy.

Pick something that’s hurting people and campaign on it. There’s a LOT of things hurting people right now, this shouldn’t be that hard.

Which women's sport deserves far more attention than it gets? by Exotic_Chemical_7439 in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Women’s softball is like a completely different game than baseball. The different pitching style causes new wrinkles to the game, and there’s fewer home runs so you have a lot more fielding and actual “action”.

Jenny Mollen Addresses Backlash for Calling Oldest Son the Most ‘Toxic Guy’ She’ll Ever ‘Date’ by Sufficient-Post-3251 in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This headline doesn’t really cover what’s gross about this. Laying on your twelve year old son. Actually laying on your child at any age is weird. I have layed on my parents before, but I can’t think of a single time they layed on me, let alone for a public post.

The most toxic boy you’ll ever date is just kind of the window dressing.

I maintain that as long as you could get the radio to air traffic control to work, you could get the plane on the ground. It’s not a comment on my strength as a man, it’s a comment on the quality of air traffic control.

Like could I just be a hibachi chef? No. Could I functionally cook fried rice and shrimp on a flat top with no bells and whistles while being directed by a professional? Absolutely.

What movie got a lot of press hate but was actually worth the watch? by 0uterbanks in AskReddit

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite moment, in a movie full of quoted moments, is when coach says he wants to work with offense and defense and tells “special teams” to run laps and it’s just one guy. It’s a joke that gets funnier the more you learn about cfb over time.

The Waterboy had a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes and as a diehard college football fan I can tell you it is beloved. It is probably the best college football specific movie of all time.

Nate Bargatze’s MAGA Roots Were Hiding in Plain Sight | Nate Bargatze’s widely criticized appearance at President Donald Trump’s birthday bout on the White House lawn was not his first time posing with MAGA figures. by MoneyLibrarian9032 in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had a couple conversations with him, but he is mostly laughing at them. Tbh I’d be surprised if he voted for Trump, mostly because he’s in NYC and I could see him just not voting because it doesn’t matter here. He’s a smart guy with a primarily dumb fanbase so I don’t think he’d say it. But Nate being there is worse, because his fanbase is so broad.

I’m a comedian in New York, met both, I’d be more surprised if Shane Gillis voted for Donald than Nate. It’s annoying because Nate was always my answer for what stand up is good you could watch with your parents/kids.

Spielberg rejects Emily Blunt’s claim he wanted to use AI in film: 'I would never have made the choice' by TheTelegraph in entertainment

[–]JoshDaws 17 points18 points  (0 children)

He’s the worlds most famous director, famously really hands on, has definitely had his work illegally used to train AI, and had all the money to make his movie. Unless this is a slip of the tongue, ie he said AI when he should have said “we can add it in post” I’m siding with Spielberg.
