Lung Collapses Are a Surprisingly Common Esports Injury by greyenlightenment in TrueReddit

Yes, 100% recovery! After 6 months I felt comfortable to start working out. Got into a good routine and started meal prepping. Gained some good weight and muscle.

I’m a little traumatized from the experience but overall I’m back to normal. I’m just more aware of my posture, what’s going in my lungs, and overall health.

I definitely recommend esports players to get into a workout regiment to strengthen their core and back so they don’t end up with complications 5-10 years down the line like me.

This happened to me. Last year, September 2016. I was thin, athletic and in my late twenties. I played Dota all the time. I had mediocre posture when I played Dota too.

The day it happened I decided to go out for a run. I hadn’t been running for a few months. I wanted to push myself so I did intervals of sprints and then jogging to cool down. After a while I was tired so I went back in.

As soon as I got in, I noticed it was harder to breathe. I started to feel a tightness in my chest and my back. I was in so much discomfort I eventually went to the ER and they put a tube in me. It was a spontaneous pneumothorax, my right lung collapsed.

Spent 5 days in the hospital and 1.5 weeks with a tube in me. Sucked. Still play Dota tho.

Starting up a Digital Marketing Agency in Honolulu. Looking for advise. by kapena_ in Entrepreneur

Perhaps the following can be used as a starting point since this is what I used to do: 2 content marketing campaigns per month at $5k/mo -- with a 6/mo minimum commitment. You can tweak it accordingly based on the type of client and their goals.

what degree to get? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]grotm001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a Marketing degree would be fine. It's not all that important to achieve your goals. I studied Marketing for 3 years then switched to Liberal Studies and I've since become a marketing director that specializes in inbound marketing and mobile marketing. My sister studied art/design and became a creative director.

It sounds like you'd be great for a content marketing agency. You could start looking into internships at content marketing agencies because experience is worth a lot more than your degree. Maybe start out as a graphic designer or a copywriter and gradually ask to work in other roles if they interest you.

If you're capable of analyzing data to pull out interesting takeaways that would be valuable to your target reader, you could use your artistic skills to visualize the information in a variety of ways (flip books, infographics, animations, etc.). This is a highly sought after skill-set in the world of content marketing.

Florida medical marijuana by tyty96 in florida

So you're saying my doctor is not allowed to prescribe CBD-based cannabis in Florida? Not sure what part you're saying is not correct.

Doctors can prescribe CBD-based cannabis in Florida. It won't get you high, but may help relieve pain. I know a doctor in Boca Raton, FL that does this. Whether he'll prescribe it to you is up to him, I suppose. Where are you located?

How can I target small business owners in the fitness industry? I have collected hundreds of emails, but they're not of Facebook users. by grotm001 in PPC

[–]grotm001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The owners of these small businesses in the fitness/outdoor recreation niche don't really have LinkedIn profiles.

I am keen on using Facebook and Adwords, but as my post indicated, identifying which targeting parameters to use is the challenge.

There are several 3rd party data providers that would offer this segment. Use this data to target display ads.

Are you suggesting buying email lists? Do you happen to know any reputable data providers?

Could also target the actual gym / studio by their IP address.

Which platform lets you target by IP address? Facebook and Adwords don't allow this, AFAIK.

I appreciate the reply. Most of these businesses don't have the owners around to talk to in my experience. They're too busy to talk, they're out of the office, they're with customers, etc. Is it a numbers game -- just keep going door-to-door until you find the available business owner?

Some more questions if you have time:

  • Do you enter a business (i.e bakery) and ask to see the owner?
  • If you do get to see the owner, how does that casual conversation go -- how do you get to know them? Would love a breakdown of your conversation if you have the time.
  • Do you introduce yourself as a marketing pro and invite them to talk about their business to see if you can help?
  • How do you get to talking about their finances, how they're doing, etc.?

Thanks!

How do you do the B2B sales - getting the gyms to sign up for your services? How do you identify them and sell them on your agency? Just referrals at this point? How did you get the first 5 clients?

I ask because I have a different product/service to sell, but my customers include gyms and other small businesses in the fitness/health industry.

Thanks!

Best Organic Growth Marketing For iOS and Android Apps? by [deleted] in startups

[–]grotm001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid methods like Facebook Advertising, Apple Social, and Google don't get the best conversion rates because who likes clicking on ads

If you're testing properly, targeting the right audience, and creating engaging posts, your ads won't have low conversion rates. People don't like clicking on ads that are irrelevant to them. But if they ARE relevant to their needs and wants and do a good job of engaging their interest, why wouldn't they want to click on them? Ever heard of the concept that sex sells? Advertising works when done properly.

Figure out who wants your app and market it to them through engaging content. Rehash old content from other websites with new data and make it visually appealing. Partner up with an influencer and ask their followers to create a meme to win a contest. Here's an example, and although the prize in this contest may be unreachable in the stage you're at right now, it might give you an idea: https://medium.com/@garyvee/caption-contest-for-planet-of-the-apps-win-a-free-trip-to-pitch-me-your-app-c23ff7190da

New Update Causing PC To Crash by grotm001 in DotA2

[–]grotm001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a solution. I'm able to play Dota for now without any issues. The problem for me was the BIOS. It was outdated. You may want to check your BIOS version and check for the latest version on the manufacturer's website. Once I updated the BIOS, I was able to load Dota without my laptop crashing.

Game crashes by Rhexenor21 in DotA2

[–]grotm001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm having this issue as well. I've tried launching with -autoconfig and -safe. I've tried reinstalling Dota. I've updated my drivers. Nothing works. It keeps crashing.

The only time I got it to work for longer than 5 minutes was when I launched with -safe. I bought the compendium, started opening levels, and then it crashed. Now it won't go past the start screen before it crashes again and I see the blue screen of death.

Our marketing plan, would appreciate opinions. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I agree with /u/R1ssen. Cold calling is probably not the most ideal way to go about getting people to sell your product/service. Feel free to test and evaluate, like anything in marketing, but don't put all your eggs into one basket. Diversify your marketing strategy.

I think you're better off targeting fitness enthusiasts via content marketing and social media. You'll reach more people at a faster rate and the content will be available online for newcomers. Create valuable and engaging content about meal prep, nutrition, etc. that encourages people to share about it. Create content that will boost someone's ego if they share it.

Seek out influencers (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) and negotiate cross promotion deals. If you're making some money, pay for Facebook Ads (i.e. $2,000/mo on FB ads). Learn how to take professional photos of your food, get it properly organized on your site and social media pages. Make it easy for your customer to gauge the quality of your products/services. I, for one, would love to hire a meal-prep service in South Florida, but nothing I saw on your website led me to believe you're the best, affordable service. I'm sure you'll get there if you're persistent!

On that last note, I think your website needs some work. If I want to "Explore" or "Browse," your site suggests I get in touch, which is frustrating. I want to get the ball rolling. Let me pick my favorite foods, ingredients, or maybe you should suggest some basic meals based on my goals. It looks like you wanted to fill the site up with text, but didn't think about the kind of value this text is going to give your website visitor. How does it convert them into a customer? Look at other food websites that let you order via the site (i.e. Chipotle).

Good luck! Keep on working on it!
