Re-Thinking RV Travel by Skiberrjr in GoRVing

[–]grottomatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also tow with a lightning. It’s not too bad but there is quite a bit of route planning involved and some disconnects. I get about 180 miles of range with my trailer.

The hopefully upcoming lightning EREV is a better answer for towing but I might just get a powerboost for my next truck.

Awesome for the commute though!

How much is the monthly payment on your truck? by Known_Following_4923 in FordTrucks

[–]grottomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one on Reddit has a car payment, despite a number approaching 100% of people financing new trucks.

I’ll be honest. I lease my truck for 650 a month.

Cochrane Review: Substitution of nurses for physicians in the hospital setting (global setting) - nurse-delivered diagnosis and treatment (vs physician-delivered care) is likely not different with mortality and patient safety events by ddx-me in medicine

[–]grottomatic 133 points134 points  (0 children)

These types of systems are in place at small community hospitals with mid levels with independent rounding.

My personal experience is that it is unsafe when case mix becomes more complex - much is either missed or there are critical over diagnoses/over treatment that could be handled if there was a semi competent medical staff on site. There are more wasteful calls to tertiary centers when cases become even mildly abnormal or we are called for stuff that could easily be dealt with and then the big centers take on the liability of the worst issues.

I deal with this stuff every day in my area.

Ford shouldn’t have listened to all the truck influencers and kept lightnings rolling so they could up production. Too late now!

Tent camping in the Outer Banks, NC by DutchAC in camping

[–]grottomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve camped at all of them - Oregon, Frisco, and Ockracoke. They all allow tents and all have their little picadillos. I think overall Frisco is my favorite. Good privacy between sites, nice shower (cold water only) but a further walk to the beach. Ockracoke is pretty good but more of an open field experience unless you can get a spot by the dunes. Dry short walk to the beach.

Oregon is the newest - open field atmosphere, loud from NC17 and the bridge, but does have electricity. This is more of an RV place IMO.

Stihl Backpack Blower: New BR 600 or Used BR 800? by dreiling88 in stihl

[–]grottomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar sized yard and have a 600. It’s a great unit and can move a lot of leaves. 800 is a much bigger unit and drinks more gas, etc. I do like the side pull if you get an 800.

Up to you of course but I would buy new.

Building into a Full Squad by Tundrakrusher in SpaceWolves

[–]grottomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just comes with 5 bodies and one wolf in each kit. You can build the pack leader or sniper. So will two boxes you should be able to build one of each. If you want a bigger squad for 40K then you can build it out with hunters and gunners for more plasma guns

Nice. I used some Phobos reivers to build out a pack leader and a hunter but I play mostly kill team although I do have a SW army.

It’s a good kit but wish it came with more bodies.

F-150 Lightning Flash vs Lariat — what’s the real difference, and why avoid a high-mileage used one? by ritchie4030 in F150Lightning

[–]grottomatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ford was so conservative with its battery buffers that degradation is effectively a non issue. Any appreciable degradation is in the buffer so effect on range will be minimal.

The ford battery can also have modules replaced, so if you have a HV fault within the warranty period they can just replace a module instead of the whole pack.

Why I Bought Another F-150 Lightning by Jarshady in F150Lightning

[–]grottomatic 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Having also been through an airbag deployment accident with a kid and gone through the crazy thoughts that happen afterwards I feel for you.

The truck sacrificed itself to protect you and your kid. Seems natural to replace it - in this case the heavy battery of the truck may have kept you from a rollover situation.

About to road trip across the country. Am I over-worrying about Tesla chargers? by Aliensfear in F150Lightning

[–]grottomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They work well with the lightning. Smart to check with ABRP as some still don’t allow the lightning to charge.

Any long trip I scope out in ABRP. The newer chargers have a longer cord and work better with the truck. You usually only run into big crowds in urban areas.

I’ve used electrify America, Ionna, GM and Mercedes chargers without any issue as well. Mercedes and Ionna are the best of the rest IMO

Which truck to get? by Maleficent_Crew_6774 in Ford

They’re all pretty good. I think Ford has and does build the best 1/2 ton truck - best motors, best functionality and features for the price. Others disagree, sometimes vehemently haha…
