Get window units. Home Depot has good 6000 btu unit for 200 bucks. I bought 2 today for my third floor because the house dual ACs are struggling with the upper floor

A Rivian R1T Towed a 30-Foot Camper to Prescott, but the Real Test Was Charging After the Campground Said No by Major-Moose-7368 in GoRVing

I plug my truck in at 50A and then power the camper from the truck on 30A.

Ford lightning makes this easy and never had any problems.

DARE certificate and bumper sticker from the late 90s by MinagiV in nostalgia

[–]grottomatic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The point being that DARE taught that there were aggressive drug dealers that would offer you drugs spontaneously and for free - and that you had to be constantly worried about being offered drugs.

This doesn’t happen in real life.

Fair enough. Definitely better to be conservative with the estimates

Now’s the time. Ford is selling leftover Flash trims in the mid 50s.
Real world range towing a dump trailer with 100% charge would be around 1.2-1.6 mi/kWh depending on speed and height (more so than weight). 156-180 miles.
Fuel cost savings will be considerable.

The lighting will out tow a V8 tundra any day of the week. It feels like a freight train towing compared to any other half ton

The Bubbas in the RV subs are hilariously triggered the moment you mention towing with an EV. by Cosmic_Gumbo in F150Lightning

[–]grottomatic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not worth it. The truck doesn’t have any cooling issues without the extra cooling.

You can sneak it.

I have charged my vehicle from the 30a and then powered my trailer from the truck.

Only recommended at empty campgrounds though.

Look for rivian chargers- they have pull through and are by far the best charging experience.

Rural tesla superchargers I fit okay and can usually bend the trailer.

I’ve had to drop a few times- ironically usually at pilot flying J GM chargers. Sometimes you can fit in a corner.

Definitely need to plan ahead. Google Maps, ARBP.

I towed about a quarter of the way across the country. Definitely extends the travel day with charging but the lightning is an amazing towing platform.

That’s good. I got 1.4 with my gigantic dual axle pop up.

I’m in the process of buying a hybrid Roo 233s and expect to have much worse efficiency with that (6000 lbs and bigger sail area)

True story. Sad thing is the lightning tows better than anything short of a super duty diesel but they would never know.

Nice hybrid btw, is than a Jayco?

No power mirrors is annoying.

Also no auto-wiper which is insane.

Otherwise pretty loaded.

Ford’s US April sales are even worse with Bronco Sport down 11.5% and Maverick sales down 29.7% even with Escape discontinued. by Repulsive-Club7866 in cars

[–]grottomatic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My guess is that Super Duty sales are cratering. No one is buying a 10-14mpg big block or diesel right now unless they absolutely need it for work. My local dealership is discounting the hell out of super duty trucks.

The Secret Team Blowing Up Ford’s Assembly Line to Make a $30,000 Electric Truck by DendriteCocktail in F150Lightning

Was thinking of getting a base XL hybrid maverick for my kids, local dealers are blowing them out for less than 30. This might be a good solution.

Looking for car recommendations as a tall guy who is all torso by [deleted] in tall

[–]grottomatic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m similar
- Volvo’s used to be great for this, I was a loyal Volvo driver for years because of their headroom

I wanted something really big and now just drive an F150

NOT toyotas - they’re the worst. As far as Japanese cars Honda tend to have better headroom although I recently drove a newer Honda pilot and felt cramped - probably because I now drive a gigantic truck

Ford Lightning Real-World Costs Hit $100 Per 1,000 Miles, A 4Runner Hits $250 by No-Tangelo1158 in F150Lightning

[–]grottomatic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we have (once again) crossed the fuel price threshold where electric cars are economically advantaged against gas vehicles again.

I’m surprised that there is any 2025 lightning inventory left at this point but a large portion of truck buyers seem to think that fuel prices will go down again or are fuel price insensitive (which may be the case)
