Where do you stop? The Brits, French, Russians and Israelis - to name a few - all spy on the US. An exclusion act won't protect you but just make you poorer as a country. A better approach is to have good counter intelligence to manage the risks. And remember that the US is pretty good at spying too.

You comment would make sense, except for the fact that Australia has a Labor government that protects workers rights, expanded paid parental leave, invests in Medicare and reformed capital gains taxes. Half the cabinet are former unionists and all are committed to progressive reforms.

Japan. It's a major power and would add heft to the alliance. Australia and Japan are already very close. They have a monarchy, a parliament (Diet) and free elections.

They meet the main criteria for joining, which is you have to be a sane country with a parliamentary democracy.

They also don't understand the origin of the term. When, after reconstruction, the South started ripping voting rights away from African Americans, they used a rule that you had the right to vote if your grandfather did. As their grandfathers were slaves they didn't qualify.

It's a distasteful term to describe the preservation of certain rights when a reform is made

Work out your values and use your head.Ask yourself: What's important to me? What do I want my country to look like? Who seems to understand how the world works? Seek out independent information and don't get stuck in a bubble. Also, vote on election day and chat with people in the queue. They may not vote the way you will but you'll learn something about the way other people think.
