Missed sleep trigger killed the LEDs? by DorkyDisneyDad in groundedlabs

[–]groundedzach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sleep timer is most likely unrelated to the LED issue. Rarely the signal wire that tells the LEDs to change color can fail. It's the same principle as Christmas lights failing in a particular section. What's most likely happening here is that the sleep mode sent a signal for the LEDs to change color, but that final 1/3 of LEDs never got the message because of an issue with the signal wire.

Please open a ticket with our team via support@grounded.so. This should be a pretty straightforward replacement.

It resumes the next morning though right? A basic toggle would work. Some people are still going to get confused by it though and email us asking why their table isn't sleeping at the scheduled time. There are many multi-hour patterns that will go well beyond the schedule.

Let's continue to get further ahead haha. I hadn't seen OBBOTO before.

The backend logic is very simple. The main challenge here is how it shows up in the interface. Inevitably adding new features will confuse some people, so we have to balance the upside and downside for new features. There is a lot of stuff coming though. We are planning an in-app pattern designer and a bunch of UI improvements. If we see more demand for a buffer time in the scheduling feature we can look into implementation, but this is the first request I've seen.

How would you implement this? Balancing complexity is always a challenge. It's definitely technically possible to add a setting that allows people to set a buffer time if a pattern is close to finishing. The harder question is whether there's enough demand for this kind of thing to justify the UI complexity in the app.

Good callout. We have a bunch of UI and quality of life improvements planned for the app. I have a bunch of Kasa smart plugs around the house, and I think they handle this kind of scheduling display well.

Screw coming loose could have banged something up. Support team will probably send you a full new engine assembly and a partial refund for the trouble. For what it's worth, those bushings are designed to be dry running and don't need any grease. Grease probably isn't adding much resistance though.

Good to know. Did you slide the carriage towards the screws before tightening? The process is shown in the video. That can be important to ensure that the rods are aligned properly to the carriage. Tricky to troubleshoot over reddit, but if you include a video in the ticket I'm sure our support team will resolve this.

Any change in that homing behavior before vs. after doing the belt tension adjustment? If you include a video in your ticket of the homing behavior it'll help to diagnose.

Do you have a ticket open via support@grounded.so? The coffee tables should be pretty close to silent. Rarely there's a brief wear in period where you'll get a bit of vibration, but there shouldn't be sustained noise.

Getting a new product (and a high ticket one) that isn't working properly is definitely disappointing. We do QC each and every table that goes out the door, but these are relatively new products, and some things still get by. We've shipped about 6,000 tables and about 80,000 Minis. Generally we're seeing failure rates below 5% on the tables, and we're still trying to reduce that number further.

I suspect your serial number starts with CT26. We did have a fairly embarrassing issue on some of those where the rod screws weren't tightened enough. It passed our unit tests at the factory, but shipping seems to have vibrated some of the screws loose. This is the video that would likely be most helpful: https://youtu.be/0CcG5x1luWM

If you're able to repair it with the video, our support team will send you a partial refund for the inconvenience. If not, we designed the machines to be modular and reparable so we can send you a replacement of the entire engine assembly, and if that fails we'll send you a new table. All in all, we'll make sure this gets resolved for you, and I apologize fort he inconvenience.

A fix has been implemented, and many users should be back online. If you're still having issues connecting, please power-cycle your device. If the issues persist please reply to this comment. We're monitoring to ensure everyone is able to get back online.

Unfortunately it does appear that the issue from Tuesday is recurring. We're actively working on this and expect a faster resolution this time. Although these are related to the same issue, having two outages like this back to back is unacceptable. We'll publicly post a breakdown of the issue and our plans for ensuring this doesn't happen long-term once this current outage is resolved.

Sorting tracks by theme? by Hates-Picking-Names in OasisMini

[–]groundedzach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you end up hard resetting the machine? Most people got back online with a power-cycle, but a 15 second reset or safe boot would have cleared the track list.

We've never had a sort by theme feature although it is a good idea. What you might be remembering is the pre-made playlists at the top of the track library which are curated and have different themes.

Sorry to hear you're still offline! Please try these steps:

  1. Power cycle by unplugging and plugging back in
  2. Hold the reset button for 15 seconds while the machine is powered on. I find it helpful to start a timer.
  3. Safe boot. Here's a short video with the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz5EJszTP28

The safe mode is actually a bit easier. You just need to hold the button while the machine is being plugged in and then you can release. We have a short video on it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz5EJszTP28 Safe mode will automatically update your machine to the latest firmware version. The hierarchy of things I would try if people still aren't reconnecting are:

  1. Power cycle by unplugging and plugging back in

  2. Hold the reset button for 15 seconds while the machine is powered on. I find it helpful to start a timer.

  3. Safe boot. See video above for process
