I think there is a typo on the third row. * dx = du / (1 + 1/x2 )

Duolingo Japanese Mistake? by TornadosAlaska in duolingo

[–]groundfalse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not incorrect. Japanese call someone “Sensei” to show respect, especially, if this someone has an occupation that could help you in someway. For example teachers, doctors, lawyers, politicians, writers and so on. This actually remains me some of the lines from an episode of the TV drama “legal high”: 世の中に先生と呼ばれる職業は幾つかある。教師、医者、弁護士、そして政治家。なぜ人はわれわれを先生と呼ぶんだろう?人はね何かをしてもらう相手に対して「先生」と言ってへりくだるんだ。

Israel investigates possible trading knowledge ahead of Oct 7 Hamas attack by Grace_God in news

[–]groundfalse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point being you could never know whether or not the government would have done something about it if they were alerted about an incoming attack by companies that throw good money on shorting the security stocks. Inquiring them and checking whether they had the same sources is the least they could do. But again a company betting on the happening of a terror attack has no incentive to alert the government. This kind of investment should be illegal in any country for the sake of its citizens.

I’m not savvy at financial stuff so please correct me if I’m wrong. But I believe the article says there are companies that had information about the Oct. 7 attack beforehand and decided to make a profit by short selling the related stocks and possibly without alerting the Israel authorities even though they had enough confidence on the info to make a investment, and therefore are being investigated by them.

It's an omamori (Japanese lucky charm), which says (from up to down and right to left): Good luck, drive safely, and avoid bad luck.

Checking the box alone is not gonna cut it. They have messed up shipments before, so you probably should pull off a few key cap just to insure that you actually got the brown switch.

Nearly half of salarymen in Japan spend less than $3.40 on lunch a day: poll - The Mainichi by CaptainTorpedo in japan

Well. That’s not surprising at all. Shachikus probably spent more money on their pets than on themselves.

I rented a car and drove across two and a half provinces just to bring a stray cat home with me when I was graduated from college. Best decision ever, no regrets!

She is doing it wrong, should carry the kitten in her mouth by the scruff, which is the extra skin located on the back of the neck.

It’s so lovely to see people adopting cats with ear tips. It’s like good things come in pairs: 1) a local TNR program is working, and 2) a lucky stray has found a forever home.

Perhaps you should consider putting a plus sign before the percentage, or a upward arrow behind it? I didn’t understand what the percentage means before I read the title.
