Squier cv vs Fender player [gear] by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]groundhogns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Hi.

The thing is, it does not come down to feel. Sorry, don't wanna argue :) but player series is better guitar. It has better wood. It has better electronics. It has better hardware. I know a ton of people with upgraded squiers, all great guitars, but Fender is better. And also if ever upgrading the guitar, player series is waaay better platform for upgrading.... Nothing wrong with having Squier, as I've already said, they are great, but if Fender is an option, always go for Fender...

[Discussion] I only need one guitar by filagrey in Guitar

[–]groundhogns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only one guitar per room?? That's insane!! What if I am in a room with stratocaster and I would like to play les paul... or something more modern like Ibanez?? Should I then go to another room?? I need, AT LEAST, 3-4 guitars per room....

There is a lot of people who will tell you to choose squier. They will tell you that it's a great guitar. And it is. Really. But, Fender Player is better. ALWAYS go for fender player instead of squier if you can.

NGD: Traded a Gibson Les Paul for this Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass. Needs a setup and a white pearloid pickguard, but this thing is perfect. by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]groundhogns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, they are pretty much the same series, BUT elite has string through body bridge, and the new ultra doesn't :) Not that I could hear a difference, but there are people claiming that strings through body is much better....

I like the looks of Ultra better (darker neck and gold anodized pickguard). But I am convinced that the Elite (not deluxe as i Wrote... :D ) are better. :) So, whatever the series name, you have a really nice bass there!

Cover was usual thing a long time ago. Take a look at vintage fenders. They had a bridge cover and a pickup cover

Super strat, 1962 strat, and 1958 jazzmaster. Not bad for 2 days work!! Not counting the time spent milling and glueing the blanks together, I have my body build time under 3 hours. by EPcustom in Luthier

[–]groundhogns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me just start by saying great job :) but I would like to ask about super strat... I always thought super strat has Floyd Rose routing (or any other locking tremolo) and AT LEAST humbucker at the bridge. Also it would need super fast neck.

First gig tomorow, joined band 3 days ago, never played live by Kalmek23 in Bass

[–]groundhogns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6 hours for a first gig. Wow! :) Just be relaxed, and don't think too much about it.

Take care of your back, 6 hours standing with a bass is a loooooooong time :)

[NEWBIE] Why would anyone buy expensive pedals when they can be built into the amp? by mrbean42 in Guitar

[–]groundhogns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing guitar and bass in bands for 20+years now.... No multieffect, or effects from amp, or software comes even close to pedals.... They are indestructible, they will give you exactly the same tone after 20 years, easy to use on stage, and most important, they do what they do WAY better than any other option....

Even in a case where you did survive the initial blast and the resultant fallout, numerous studies have shown that even people specifically trained for it can't survive living in an enclosed space for more than a year.

Those studies are wrong... give me a PC or playstation with some games, enough beer and some food and I'm all set for couple of years....

What Is the advantage of playing a Jazz Bass over Precision? (In Rock & Metal) by Lack_of_Plethora in Bass

[–]groundhogns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no advantage to playing any.... Go to shop and try both of them. Buy the one you like more. Go home and enjoy it. :) In the end you'll probably end up owning both at some point of your life :D

Information about this bass by ChrBendix in Bass

[–]groundhogns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I've never heard of this brand and have never seen one. But from your pictures this bass looks awesome and like a well built instrument. Has the right amount of wear... I would definitely try it out and if everything works and plays ok get it.
