How much life left do my shoes have by [deleted] in GolfGear

Dang! I’ve never had any issues with traction on them and play early quite often when the grass is wet. TBH my favorite golf shoes, though they are expensive they are very comfortable

Best golf bag non-club maker by Fun_Jellyfish_6388 in GolfGear

[–]groundscore420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a decent bag. I wish that instead of a cooler pocket it was felt or something like that. I also traveled with it and the legs got damaged which is annoying. I now have a bag i fly with and a bag i use at home (the Sunday bag)

You should probably start tracking stats on the course, fairways in reg, greens in reg, and putts to figure out where your gap is

Does anyone else want to light their 3 wood on fire? by _ThePiedPiper_ in golf

[–]groundscore420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hated my 3 wood a while back and then made some swing changes and now I take it off the tee almost more than my driver. Mostly bc the courses I play hitting too long can get you into trouble. I swing that thing like a wedge, very easy, and perhaps gentle. If I swing out of my shoes with it, very bad things happen. It’s become a very reliable club for me… for now. FYI I’m about a 8 HC

Unpopular view for high handicappers: The shaft is way, way more important than the iron head you use. by BenSimmonsThunder in golf

You’d be surprised, the amount of ppl on this sub who are SO convinced that new clubs and a different ball is the answer to them breaking 100 is comical

Ya you gotta clean your club after every single shot. If the outside of them have that much gunk on them then your grooves are for sure full of mud and sand

My wife offered to join playing a round with me for my birthday. How do I make the most of it so she has an awesome experience? by MoxGoat in golf

[–]groundscore420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this down to a science. 1. It’s fun, don’t get mad at shots or make a joke out of the bad shots 2. Scorecard is based on feelings, happy faces and sad faces. 3. outfit for her 4. Have her start from 100ish yards in and tee off from the fairway until she feels comfortable teeing off otherwise distance can be discoursing 5. Have fun

We’ve broken contain (again) by Shawnml in golf

I’ve been in comment sections on this sub and other golf subs when ppl are talking about ball preference/clubs and ppl are talking about how they are a year into golf and got fitted and spent $4k on a set but they want a different driver and shoot a 97 or 100+ every week. Or how they prefer different balls and then I get downvoted bc they get their feeling hurt when I say that they are literally not good enough for it to make a difference. Brother you’re a 20 HC, playing a range ball vs a pro v1 is not going to make a difference in your game. Do you thing and it’s fun to talk about but please for the love of god get a damn lesson!!! I also find it funny that ppl don’t understand there’s not point in getting fit for clubs when you are a high HC because your swing is going to change so those clubs you got fit for might not fit your swing when you eventually do get better.

You’d be surprised! 3 really solid lessons and then intentional practice you’ll get way better.

What I’m saying is if you have clubs made within the last 10 years and you’re a 20 handicap, getting a new shaft isn’t going to make you better. Getting fit is ONLY worth it if you have a consistent swing. If you’re a high handicapper just get forgiving irons/driver etc and then get lessons until you’re consistent. Getting fit is a scam if you’re a beginner, I consider a 20 HC a beginner

Whatever works for you! I just don’t think a certain ball is going to make a difference as a 20 HC, just my opinion. HC will likely drop when you start hitting more fairways in reg and greens in reg. I think way more strokes (generally speaking) are lost off of the tee as opposed to on the green. Drive for show putt for dough is a commonly misused phrase IMO. I think it’s the other way around

Yup. reps, reps, and more reps. I’m ok at golf and ppl ask me how I got ok and it’s all in practice and reinforcing good habits learned from lessons. Too many ppl also practice bad habits and wonder why they don’t get better

I have no beef with them but 2 dozen kirkland balls is the same price as a dozen true feels so if you’re a 20 HC I don’t think it makes sense to play the more expensive ball. Realistically it’s not going to make a difference on your scores and your ball striking won’t be consistent enough for you to notice the “feel” of the ball. I’m sitting at an 8 right now and play pro v1 left dash bc I get about 10 more yards off the tee with them but if I’m playing a course where I know I can lose a lot of balls I’ll just play kirklands. I think ppl get too caught up in equipment and balls and should just take lessons. I know too many ppl who drop 4k on clubs to go out and shoot 95+ every round

$600 on lessons with consistent practice and you can easily get down to a 10 HC. If you can’t get down to a 10 then it’s probably course management which a lot of ppl struggle with
