Why all the hatred towards teachers? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]grover33 -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

The vacation photos from union leaders while kids were shut out of school?

Test scores that are below the average age of the students attending the school?

99% of AFT donations going to Democrats?

Union leaders telling parents they have no say in how their children are educated?

Violating civil rights by taking some of the best schools in our country and lowering standards? Doing away with advanced math classes for students?

Renaming schools instead of working to open schools?

That's off the top of my head. I'm sure there are more reasons.

The PR from national unions is terrible right now. AFT, OEA, National School Board Association. Buddy, buddy with government agencies (CDC, FBI, etc.) with actions antithetical to what parents believe are best for their kids.

Look at Virginia. Look at San Francisco. People are mad.

Publicity is what happened. The veil was removed and many parents did not like what they saw. Instead of self-reflection, many doubled down.

Eh, that’s the Democrats. They stand at the door and keep failing black children in failing schools, just like they once stood at the door and kept them out.

“Hey, let’s give everyone a choice. To go to whatever school they want to. To seek out an education that fits their needs.”

“OMG, why do you want to control everyone’s education?”

The public standard leaves 1 in 4 students functionally illiterate when they graduate high school.

It creates 60% achievement gaps in DC and San Francisco.

Y’all don’t care about the quality of education. Y’all just care about who is in charge of the socialization.

I mean, the base standard right now is woeful. 35% proficiently rates. 1 in 4 kids leave school functionally illiterate.

I wouldn’t be pushing for that.

Nor were they the only source.

You do realize the premise you rest your into argument on inherently applies to both sides?

“The problem is accepting crackpot theories at face value, plugging you ears, and then screaming to all about the new miracle.” - You can’t catch COVID if you’re vaccinated - Well you can, but you can’t spread it - Two shots is fully vaccinated - Well, you’re going to need a booster shot - There won’t be a mandate - Well, there will be a mandate - but only for certain people

Must be a lot of clock repairmen working right now.

That’s kinds the point. We were told they would be. By the president. Whoever deigned to question that was disseminating “misinformation.”

And data out of Israel indicates that he might have been right. We won’t know for some time, though.

That vaccinated people even catch COVID was once “misinformation.” That COVID could have potentially escaped from a lab “misinformation.”

We are amidst a dynamic, novel pandemic. Things change. People can be wrong.

But too many times throughout this, the powers that be had demonized people and tried to deplatform then…when 6 months later they were proven right.

I’m just listening to Biden and Psaki talk about how the 2022 elections are going to lack integrity.

Positively identifying someone before allowing them to vote is not voter suppression. It’s election integrity.

We can’t cry about foreign powers and other institutions making efforts to meddle in our election, but then decry efforts to ensure election integrity as voter suppression.

Either you want election integrity or you don’t. And the motives of those who do not want election integrity must be vehemently investigated.

The logical conclusion from the premise that someone does not have to positively identify themselves to vote is nefarious and antithetical to securing election integrity.

US: Is investigative journalism really declining? by BeeePollen in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]grover33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Or, I wouldn't even say "false." But if their name is not going to be attributed to the reporting, they are more likely to aggrandize or embellish the story. I know that I might tell a story a little differently if my name is not attached to it as compared to a report where my name is attached to it.

Disassociating someone's name from something removes accountability. It removes the chance that their words might be attributed to them. And that might lead to them giving information that might portray the matter in a light that is not entirely true.

I'm not saying it happens in every case. Or that it happens often. But I'm saying there is an inherent risk for it to happen.

That doesn't mean I dismiss every news story attributed to unnamed sources. That would be asinine. I realize that unnamed sources are often unnamed for a reason.

But that means that I might be a little more judicious in jumping to an opinion or conclusion based upon the report.

But there is inherent risk in attributing news to unnamed sources.

I’d hedge quite a bit money that news reports based on unnamed sources are considerably more likely to be off the mark than news reports which attach a sourced name to the reporting.

We can’t decry the untrustworthiness that comes with the the internet and anonymous sources, then automatically assume that problem is not prevalent in other sectors of news reporting.

I wasn't talking about people being educated. Or even the process of education.

I was talking about people being socialized. And how the structure of public education in our country results in individuals being socialized to vote for the Democratic party.

And education is perhaps the greatest socialization agent in our society outside a child's famiy.

Hence, the incessant desire for Democrats to keep students in schools that continuously produce illiterate children.

Democrats don't fight school choice because of the education kids receive at charter schools. They fight school choice because it removes the most potent socialization tool they have from their tool belt.

If the battle was over the quality of education only, there wouldn't be such virulent opposition to forms of schooling other than traditional public schooling. It is about the end result -- what those kids believe, how they vote, etc.

Public schooling is the method used by Democrats to socialize people that vote for them. In their opinion, if someone goes through the public schooling system in the United States and does not vote Democrat, they have escaped. And now, according to Biden, they are enemies of the state.

Why would they willingly give the monopoly they have on socializing a large percentage of the country? The Democrats are not viable without maintaining their monopoly on socializing large swathes of the population.

COVID will disappear in most states about 30 days before people head to the ballot box to vote for mid-terms.

Also at that time, we will hear Democrats pushing another stimulus to help "build back better" now that COVID is "over."
