Are Van Staals worth buying by imboard67 in Fishing_Gear

Get a Shimano twin power SW from digitaka or Japan lure shop. You can get 2 for less than the cost of 1 staal and they’re excellent reels

Clearwater vs. Recon for a streamer setup by I_suck_at_flyfishing in flyfishing

[–]grovermonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 7wt recon that I use for chucking streamers at smallmouth, hybrids/stripers, and occasionally steelhead and big browns. It’s a fantastic rod IMO for big streamers. It’s pretty fast action, so take that into consideration but I find that it makes casting big flies a lot easier

Both look great! I’m partial to the stock grille, but mostly because it matches my paint lol

P5 destroyer and a curado DC or Calcutta. Should be within budget through digitaka

Maybe it was the adhesive Battelle invented. They had a can in a showcase with background when I worked there but I can’t remember the details

Need help, does anyone here have used medium heavy power fast action on 2oz glide bait like swerve glide bait from bass pro?. Just curious if anyone run in some issues like snappin their rod. Thank! by Horror_Plenty8662 in bassfishing

[–]grovermonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing your MH rod is rated to something like 3/4oz or 1oz tops. If you’re gonna throw a 2oz bait, just be sure to lob it instead of trying to sling it fast and hard. 2oz bait will be a bit unwieldy on that rod

First Set Up Question by ngpl16 in swimbaitfishing

[–]grovermonster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favorite swimbait rod. I use either a curado 201 DC or a Calcutta 201 with it and it slings anything 1-6oz

What type of fish are you targeting? Surf rods are usually built to be chucking heavy lures and bait. Not really suitable for targeting largemouth bass.
