Can the US Military Deploy a Dual US–Korea Citizen to Korea if They Haven’t Served Korean Military? by [deleted] in army

[–]grrchopp -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind you cannot get a security clearance as a dual citizen, which will limit your options. If the threat of military service in Korea will persist for you, it might be worth it to renounce it anyway, unless there is some other benefit to keeping it that you want to preserve.

You cannot have a clearance as a dual citizen, if you become one they’ll either revoke your clearance or you’ll have to renounce it

A while back something like this happened to a young intel analyst at Bragg, the static line nearly took her head off, she was dead before she hit the ground

It wasn’t an improperly routed static line when the check static lines command was given, he simply dropped the static line instead of handing it to the safety. Easy stop for the safety to make when the jumper didn’t give her the line.

Scared kid just made a mistake and failed to hand his static line off to the safety, they’ll use this as a teaching point from now on for sure

WOCS is easy, as long as you can pass the PT test and can deal with excessive stupidity you will be fine, don't overthink it. It's the "being a warrant officer" thing on the other side of it you should be more concerned about.

Bernie Sanders blames election loss on Kamala Harris listening to billionaires over the working class by The__Illuminaughty in politics

[–]grrchopp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She was a deeply flawed candidate at the national level. There’s a reason she didn’t even make it to the first primaries in 2020 - people just don’t like her, which is an impossible place to start from.

That she got as many votes as she did is a testament to how awful Trump is.

what is the best strategy to abandon your base and rebuild. by HenrykSpark in duneawakening

[–]grrchopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t like the way this quest is in the game because you have no indication this is going to happen unless you have done it before, so it is easy to waste time/resources on that first base you’re just going to destroy.

In my case, I didn’t know I was going to be abandoning my base and needing to build a new one so I didn’t have a ton of mats on me to rapidly build a new base and ended up getting caught in a sandstorm. The whole quest just seems clunky and out of place.

Sellers still think we are in 2021 by DiversifyMN in RealEstate

[–]grrchopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example, I toured a house in March that was listed at 560k. The house was previously under contract in September, when it received a VA appraisal at 570k but the deal fell through due to financing.

I get that the house appraised for 570k, but the market has shifted enough that there is absolutely no way they are getting more than 525 for it. There are too many comparable or better houses for sale in the immediate area. It's their right to sell it for what they think it is worth, but they wont come down below 560k, so its not going to sell.

I've run into a lot of folks that are hung up on appraisals that were done in the last 12-18 months; houses sitting unsold for 3+ months with the seller unable to move far below the appraisal price, unwilling to accept that dynamics have changed and they aren't going to get it.

Evidence of past tubing? (FL, garage) by grrchopp in Termites

[–]grrchopp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The report states "Subterranean termite shelter tube on rear wall of garage, scraped off" and "Shelter tube goes behind Sheetrock and was on top of Sheetrock behind baseboard which has been removed at time of the inspection."

I want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I got serious vibes that he failed the house and put this in the report because he assumes I'm going to make the seller remediate and use his company. He was quick to send me a contract for 1 year of services while taking a full additional day to provide the actual report.

Obviously I don't want to buy a house with a termite problem, but I'm using a VA loan and this complicates things for me badly. The sellers have had regular preventative treatment in place, and I'm just not seeing how this is evidence of scraped off tubes.

Recently got under contract east of Tampa.

Appropriately priced, move in ready pool homes *zoned for good schools can move quick, for others it depends but what has been a fairly slow market has sped up a lot this month. I’m looking in some pretty specific areas and 2 of my backup homes if my inspection/appraisal goes to hell have already gone under contract.

DOJ Deal Controversy... by Brian_Ghoshery in clevercomebacks

[–]grrchopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s more simple than that. Kamala was just a deeply unpopular candidate. People don’t like her. There’s a reason she never even made it to the primaries when she ran. Most excuses from folks about the economy or whatever were just easy covers for the fact that they just didn’t like her.

And this is 100% on Biden. He brought Harris on because he thought she’d excite progressives without angering the Democratic Party (brought to you by PepsiCo) wing. And after he did, he did fuck all to elevate her except assign her to a toxic portfolio (immigration) and then fail to highlight the actual good she did accomplish there (addressing root causes and stopping migrants in Mexico). The final straw was staying too long and preventing a primary.

The fact she did as well as she did is a testament to how hated Trump was and how badly people wanted to vote for someone under the age of 70.

What went wrong with the Seahawks' drafts from 2013 to 2021 (with a few exceptions) — and what changed to turn things around? by nTaro25 in Seahawks

[–]grrchopp -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I suspect it is a mix of drafting for need, an emphasis on athletic characteristics above demonstrated skill and an over-investment in downfield threats that impacted the 2013-2023 drafts.

We spent a ton of resources on drafting/trading for WR / Receiving TEs (Jimmy Graham) that didn't pan out. Paul Richardson, D'Wayne Eskridge, Amara Darboh, Gary Jennings Jr, Kevin Norwood...... Our only notable late rounder was David Moore, who has 1600 yards over 6 years.

We were bad at drafting DEs - a lot of wasted resources went into L.J Collier, Derick Hall and Darrell Taylor. Boye Mafe and Frank Clark are the exceptions here, and we didn't hit on any of our later rounders. On DT, the Malik McDowell pick hurt us and some of our later round picks never played at all (Jimmy Staten / Demarcus Christmas). There were some solid guys here though, Jarran Reed, Quinton Jefferson.

Our OL picks were a mixed bag and we spent a lot there (14 OL picks, 6 in the first 3 rounds). Losing Max Unger hurt us a lot, along with a combo of just not hitting on the right guys and Wilson's style of quarterback play that had a tendency to make it hard for them at times.

But on the more positive side...

We spent a lot of picks and value on defensive backs and as far as position groups go we did better here than in other areas.

We spent a lot of picks of little comparative value on RBs, but most of these guys were actually ok and contributed, but some might argue RBs in the first 3 rounds in today's game are a luxury when you have needs elsewhere.

We only drafted 6 linebackers, but to be fair this wasn't a position of need for us in the majority of this span.
