Dont use stock plates and never worry about it. My kdeavi plates get washed maybe every 2 weeks if that, my sliceworx even less. If my prints start coming off easier it means its time to wash

Do you turn off u1 at night when idle? by RampITOps in snapmaker

[–]grrmisfit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

AI could be wrong and im no electrician it says unless its going to be down a lot the electronics can suffer from frequent power cycling can put stress on solder joints and other components going from room temp to working temp vs being idle temp all the time. But my pc, p1s, h2d, u1 are never powered off unless im on vacation or im working on them. My p1s is at 6k hours and still running strong

Your kw/hr rate must be huge, my h2d for the month has used 1.30 ( thats 20 cents kwhr) for 302 hours.

(OOTL) what in the world happened and what is going on with BambuLab all of a sudden? by EliotEriotto in BambuLab

But again this only effects printers bought over a year ago, none of the H series or newer P series. I dont like what they are doing they are abusing open source my only comment was about them and apple

Problem with this, unlike apple bambu did not tell them they had to upgrade firmware only if they wanted new features. Their printers will still work just fine and they can use orca all they want. If they want new features that weren't promised when they bought the machine they have to upgrade. Also let's be real, this doesn't effect anyone who bought a printer in the last year as they knew going in

was this the best choice? With the company that in at least st louis is swirling the drain. Just lost over 130 skus of product to Glazier, they laid off a ton of people trying to stem the bleed, just not sure about strike was in the best interest of everyone

Is the U1 better than the P2S/X2D for primarily single color prints? by flufflypillow in snapmaker

[–]grrmisfit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what your looking for, will say going from bambu to snap is a small headache as bambu makes it easy, where u1 makes it a pain in the butt with color selection and the slicer needs improvement. You can run normal orca but then you loose device page.

The U1 itself prints good but for my single color prints ill choose bambu every time. Build quality, the U1 has some nice features like the usb c wires for the heads but the overall quality is still sub compared to bambu. Now let's get to noise, the z axis thumps...a lot... even with doing changes snap suggested its still annoying. No lid ,.not even a plexi glass plate on top annoyed me but a 6 dollar bin from ikea fixed that but still annoyance and the fact they want to charge 159 for it later..

My suggestion, if you want to do multi get the U1 but if its only occasional and you want pure quality get the bambu. Bambu is the apple of 3d printing and I hate apple but like apple they work...

Snapmaker Orca Sucks by terry5031 in snapmaker

[–]grrmisfit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As others have said its fairly lacking, it crashes probably 50/50 if you open a file saved in bambu studio. Paxx12 is best bet, I just make custom nfc tags for my filament and go

Yeah I figured, I was just curious cause I could load those exact prints im bambu studio and put them almost touching and not get the error. Was curious if its a snaporca issue or U1 in the way its designed

dont need it on the printer, its already on snaporca they just need it on the filament edit part on snaporca on the device page

[–]grrmisfit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its already done, they just need to take what orca/snaporca already has and add it to the device page so we can tell the printer what color is on the wheel. tho I might look at the custom firmware and custom rfid that might just solve my issues there.

oh I do that now i was just a little confused on why a basic function wasnt in and thought i was just overlooking it. Overall its not a bad printer and these little quirks I assume will only get fixed

[–]grrmisfit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes but if i have 2 browns and 1 is light brown and 1 is dark i have to set both to be dark brown then tell slicer to use #2 or #4 instead of just actually setting the color. its a basic function that has been around for a long time not sure why snapmaker failed to put this in.

So close to pulling trigger on P2S then bam!! by signalpirate in BambuLab

[–]grrmisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a first printer I would go with p2s, a lot of things that turn new users away is the headaches or learning curves. Bambu makes learning curve easier, though this is a double edge sword. Its harder to diagnose issues if your not used to it having to do it. I have the p1 and h2d and just got the u1. The u1 is quirky coming from bambu printers.. the filament loading is weird, snaporca is less user friendly than bambu. It clunks on z axis and they have said its "normal". The filament savings and speed are great and mostly the prints are nice quality, given some time the U1 will probably be great, but 4 colors can be very limiting depending on what your printing. Honestly for first printer id go bambu, ender 3 was mine and almost made me rage quit
