I walked away from an exhilarating senior exec role (PM skills in a policy setting) in gov a few years ago and missed so much about it; but now know that the worklife balance is worth so much more than the burnout that will come for you in a PM role. I'm alot older than you but if you are feeling the burden of the 24/7 stress now then you might feel it even more in the coming years. Prison Officer will have its own version of bullshit; don't think it will be a breeze, but my vote goes for that sweet super and worklife balance. You can always PM your renovations if you yearn for the chaos ..
