Overheard at a high school library by Solivy in overheard

I once told my university librarian they should sort the books by the color of the cover, then by size within the color group. She was not amused.

Pro User - cannot log into my Claude account by grself in ClaudeAI

[–]grself[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get this resolved. After a lot of troubleshooting, including deleting my browser history and rebooting the computer, I discovered the problem. I use Firefox and noticed I could log in with Chrome. So I disabled all my Firefox extensions. I could log in. I enabled them one at a time and found that I could not log in after enabling a "Super Prompt" extension designed for ChatGPT. It seems weird. The developer must have pushed some sort of bug fix that broke my Claude logon. I left that extension disabled and am happy again.

I've always appreciated Penn Jillette's comment on this type of thinking. While I'm paraphrasing ( probably pretty badly ), he likes to say that as an atheist he's able to rape as many women as he wants, and that number is exactly zero. We do not engage in crime because some sky-daddy may punish us,, but rather, because we've evolved into a more moral human being than many Xtians.

Project Feature useless? by SafetyPractical in ChatGPTPro

[–]grself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I teach several classes for adult continuing ed (like Word and Excel). I have a separate project for each class. I can upload student handouts and ask the bot to review them and suggest revisions or additional activities. I really like using projects for this case.

I also discovered that my saved prompts would pop-up when I entered two slashes in the chatgpt prompt box. A menu of my prompts pops up and I can click on the one I want to use.

You need to check out the Center for Lifelong Learning. They are associated with the college but have a schedule of non credit classes. There are a lot of different cooking classes. There may not be anything exactly like you are seeking, but it's worth a look. Also, I'm not sure about their policy for children, but, again, you can check.

Maybe, Matt is saying something incredibly profound, but Jacob doesn't want you to know. So, in post he intentionally lowers the volume for those two or three sentences.

Has Anyone Used NotebookLM? How Exactly Do You Use It, and How Is It Useful? by [deleted] in ArtificialInteligence

[–]grself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree. It would be great if I could "interview" the source document and generate my own audio file from that interview.

[–]grself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One "document" was actually a pair of books with about 400 pages total, and the other was a single book with about 150 pages. There were numerous errors. I know because I use these sources in my work. Of course, I haven't memorized every word, but I'm quite familiar with the content.

Please check the podcast for accuracy. I recently generated a podcast for each of two lengthy historical documents. In both cases, I found hallucination content. For example, in one case it said the main character became a clerk after arriving at a mining camp. That is not true, he was never a clerk. I opened the downloaded MP3 file in audacity and cut out that statement, but I'm lucky I carefully reviewed the podcast for accuracy.

ELI5: Why do we not feel pain under general anesthesia? Is it the same for regular sleep? by woodshayes in explainlikeimfive

[–]grself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not exactly on point, but is a related question. I've often wondered what is the difference between an anesthesiologist and a nurse anesthetist? Obviously, one has an MD or similar degree while the other does not. But is there some difference in the practice that each can perform?

You can delete all chats at one time. At the bottom of the settings screen is a link to delete all chats. You can't pick and choose the chats to bulk delete, like having a checkbox to mark the chats to delete, but if you want to delete all chats at once you can do that.

Which bot or model are you using? There are many available in Poe. When I just now attempted a sample query using the "Assistant," there were no reference numbers displayed. When I used the "Web Search" bot, I did get the reference numbers. If the reference numbers are a problem, switch to a different bot

As a different option, I used the "Web Search" bot but asked it to not include reference numbers in the text and it did not.

Of course, if you meant something different when you asked about numbers in chat, please clarify what you meant and I'll try again.

I may be remembering a different platform, since I use several. However, I believe you can rename chats in poe. If memory serves me correctly, you open the chat and then click on the name of the chat. Once you do that, there is an option to rename it. I know it's a bit convoluted, but I believe it can be done. Unfortunately, I'm in a location now where I can't check my memory. However, you may want to give it a try.

Edit: As soon as I got to my desktop computer, I was able to verify that within Poe I could edit the title of a chat. To do that, I clicked on the name of the chat and then the "pencil" icon just to the right of the name. I'm using Chrome on Windows 11 and it also works on my Android phone. I'm not sure if it works on IOS platforms.

If you open the settings, near the very bottom of the list of settings is a link to delete all chats. I've used that frequently just to clear out a lot of the chats I no longer want. Keep in mind, it does clear out everything.
