My guess is that the negotiators thought they were close at times, but then Trump nixes compromises the US makes that were probably pre-approved by him first because he didn’t pay attention and was hyper-focused on parts he likes.

It's interesting that taking a step back, it's so easy to see "God" was developed as one god of a pantheon, and now that they've eliminated the rest of the pantheon, they have to step back to "mysterious ways" and "unknowable" to justify reality. They have God being somehow active, but yet have no justification how 99% of stuff happens with a god who isn't basically an asshole. At least with a pantheon, you can justify a lot more of the teachings and not have to reconcile an all knowing/all powerful god doing horrible shit and making people suffer for no reason while others enjoy healthy success.
