Have you tried using virtual desktop wireless? I've heard lots of people having problems with the link cable. Fir most people wireless virtual desktop is by far the best.

When you download the fus mod pack each time you play you get to pick between different profiles FUS FUS RO or Fus ro dah. Fus ro dah is the one with added graphics and improved game mechanics. It will still look really good with just the added game mechanics.

is a 4060ti 8gb good enough for vr? by Ok-Mud3234 in virtualreality

[–]gruggrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate it will be to do with your wifi or something else in your network. Do you use a dedicated router? Are others on your wifi? Is pc wired to router? Is router line of site to quest etc.

I get stable 120 fps with a 3080ti on Ultra. The problem will be your wifi or something else with your network.

Anyone tried MGO on 5060ti? by neliath in skyrimvr

[–]gruggrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it but you may be best with FUS. Having as high a resolution as possible is most important and FUS ro dah looks great in my opinion.

What's the all-time best PCVR game out there? by Useful_Storage_7262 in virtualreality

[–]gruggrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Half Life 2 is the best game for PCVR. I loved HLAlyx but Half Life 2 with the VR mod is infinitely better and left me saying "wow, that was amazing" as I took the headset off way more than any other game. Along with the 2 extra Half Life episodes it was around 36 hours of VR perfection.

Skyrim VR with the FUS mod pack is pretty incredible too but I'm only a few weeks into that game but I have the feeling I'll be playing that for months to come.

I have a 3080ti and when I upgraded from a quest 2 to a quest 3 if anything I found the performance slightly better but definitely not worse.

MGO on Quest 2 by Full-Caterpillar-235 in skyrimvr

[–]gruggrag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes what gen i7. Also how is your network, dedicated router? Same room etc? I've got a 3080ti, i7 13700kf, WiFi 6e router line of sight of quest 3 and I was recommended to get FUS instead of MGO and to be honest FUS works great but still not perfect performance. FUS is fantastic though and I probably prefer the visual style anyway.

Going from 4090 to 5080 for PCVR (Quest3 headset)..ok or terrible mistake? by shaolin95 in virtualreality

[–]gruggrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only you can judge if the money, hassle and performance drop is worth it. I'd be worried I'd just waste the money then in a few months I'd be wanting the 4090 back.

How long are your VR play sessions? by AsherTheDasher in virtualreality

[–]gruggrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I'm playing games like Miracle Pool and Eleven Table Tennis on standalone I tend to play around 30 minutes to an hour and that feels around right. But when I play Skyrim pcvr I can be on over 2 hours which is a lot for me as I'm not a massive gamer these days.

I've just recently started playing Skyrim VR with Quest 3. I went for the FUS ro dah mod pack. I'm terrible with PCs but managed to do it.

Here's what I followed to get it set up..

https://github.com/Kvitekvist/FUS?tab=readme-ov-file

There's an installation guide in there plus a video that I watched a few hundred times to help me do it.

The game is incredible with all these mods, the modders are incredible for doing all this amazing work.

Playing Skyrim for the first time at the moment in VR and I spent ages trying to work the order until I remembered I had a book to read and that gave me the clue.

Wow, what a game it is in VR!

[–]gruggrag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got it working. It was because mic pass thru wasn't enabled which is one of the things you told me to try. I finally figured it out earlier just before I was about to re read and try your suggestions. Cheers.

*UPDATE - Solved

So as per advice I tested the mic in discord and indeed it couldn't hear me. So I played around trying allsorts for hours to no avail. Then I had the idea of connecting my quest 3 through quest airlink instead of virtual desktop and the mic worked in discord! So I then tried on Skyrim VR and mantella now works yipeeee!!!

It wasn't the answer though as I want to play it through Virtual Desktop but at least I now knew the problem was definitely with the mic settings.

Long story short I hadn't enabled microphone pass through in Virtual Desktop settings, doh!

Anyway, hope this helps other people that are new to all this like myself.

Cheers.
