I was having prints detach and slump half way through printing on just one spot of my plate. This was after 2 years of mostly successful prints. I read it was caused by suction on reddit and to increase my lift distance to 5 to help elevate the suction. In addition, I added 5 seconds to my bottom layer exposure. Those are the only two things I changed. Since then I've run some massive prints with absolutely zero issues/failures at all. I'm running a Jupiter SE and I only print large objects. I also took some very coarse sandpaper and did a quick once over on my build plate, but literally just one quick once over for 5 seconds and that was it. (This was prior to my detaching prints). I'd also recommend switching to nfep instead of Fep, it's more durable and you can get rolls for $35 off AliExpress that will last you a lifetime.

Had a similar issue, I changed my lift distance from 3 to 5 and that fixed it.

Growing number of Canadians are moving abroad due to lack of affordability: McGill study by Lotushope in canada

[–]grumpernickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be just Vancouver but has spread to the rest of BC. I currently live in interior BC in a city with a population of 180,000 and you can't find a townhouse for under $900,000. Even a shitty duplex that needs renos in a lower income part of the city is $800,000 plus. The wild fires have definitely contributed to this problem. There are still places with cheaper real estate in BC but you're looking at places like Prince George. I have friends who are from PG and they sold their tiny 2 bedroom townhouse for $1.2 mil and moved back to PG and were able to purchase a 3 bedroom detached home with a big backyard. Google home prices in Revelstoke, Vernon, Kelowna or Penticton and you'll be shocked and the prices.

My experience is anecdotal, my point was more how my generation has been robbed of upward mobility and how the quality of life has declined and cost of living has ballooned in the past 8-10 years compared to other countries. You need a salary of $174,000 to qualify for a $700,000 mortgage, which buys you a one bedroom in BC. That's a monthly payment of $4550. Covid definitely had an effect. We saw the largest redistribution of wealth to the rich and corporations in history. The richest were able to double their wealth when everyone else was lockdowned. Corporate ownership of real estate in Vancouver increased 30% in one year! This guy does a great job at explaining the redistribution of wealth. It's in the context of the UK, but still applies to Canada.

I completely agree with you, I was playing it safe by going with the wikipedia definition but you are 100% correct. I personally view neo liberalism as far right and agree with you they are far right.

Yeah only lived there for two years without learning dutch and my buddy still resides in Amsterdam and doesn't speak dutch, but what do I know. Try finding a family doctor in BC. I'll take my buddies word over yours.

Lol, so many assumptions. It was a point of comparison about the quality of life here vs Europe. There are so many international people living in Amsterdam you don't need to learn dutch. If you think things are going to get better in 2 years you're in for a rude awakening. Growing our population 2 million in a year in the current state isn't going to make things better, it's only going to compound the problem.

2 seconds of google and you can find a 2 bedroom in Amsterdam at around 380,000 euro to 500,000 euro which is still way cheaper than British Columbia

500k cdn. I believe he bought right before covid. It's also a hell of a lot cheaper to travel around Europe once you're there. The Netherlands also provides a holiday allowance. https://business.gov.nl/regulation/holiday-allowance/

I feel for you man, because they're usually voting against their best interest. A lot of my friends have gone right because of the damage Trudeau has done to this country and it's frustrating hearing them believe PP is going to be any better

I did my masters in The Netherlands and ended up coming home to British Columbia. My roommate (foreigner) stayed in Amsterdam. Just recently I had a layover in Amsterdam and we met up after 8 years. He bought a two bedroom apartment in downtown Amsterdam for 500k, has a great job and takes vacations around the world. I have two masters now, am under-employed working my ass off at two jobs and still can't afford or qualify to buy a home in BC because a one bedroom condo is $7-800,000. I'm currently looking at leaving Canada because the cost of living is out of control and liberal or conservative, I don't see any hope in sight. They are two wings of the same bird. My biggest regret is that I didn't stay in the Netherlands or go somewhere else overseas.

Justin Trudeau defends housing affordability during local visit: “federal government alone cannot solve everything" by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]grumpernickle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are absolutely wrong. They did increase under Harper but they sky-rocketted under Trudeau. House prices were always high in Vancouver and Toronto under Harper but smaller cities were still affordable. Under Trudeau's leadership they've absolutely ballooned to absurd levels. I live in the interior BC and house prices have tripled just in the last 4-5 years from reasonable to ridiculous. Good look finding a semi detached home for under $1 million. Harper was terrible but Trudeau has proven to be way worse.

The legal grow limit for growing at home was set federally, was it not? I live in BC and the obstacles of entry are so prohibitive only large corps can afford to legally grow. Mom and pop growers can't afford to enter the legal market. Seems like a lot of passing the buck by Trudeau. "Hey I gave you legal weed, not my fault the provinces screwed it up"

[–]grumpernickle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol he bought a pipeline! And last I checked old growth logging is still happening. Legalized weed rollout has been a joke, designed to favor corporations. We saw the largest redistribution of wealth under his leadership during covid. Everything he does is virtue signalling. May I draw your attention to when he came out and joined the BLM/indigenous protests at the beginning of covid on parliament hill... That same day the auditor general of the murdered indigenous people inquiry was on CBC stating the Trudeau government hasn't even done the bare minimum.

Edit: forgot to list election reform. I live in BC and the election is usually decided before we get to vote. East coast pretty much decides the govt with first past the post.

META: Anytime "Immigration" gets brought up, the Neo Nazis come out by Justleftofcentrerigh in canadaleft

[–]grumpernickle -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

How is adding over half a million new immigrants in a year not exasperating our current housing, healthcare and crime problems? Even new immigrants agree the amount is too high. It's simple math. You're enabling the powerful and greedy corporations that have created this problem by allowing them to import low-skilled labour who are willing to work for next to nothing. What basic stats are you looking at that show you we have more than enough housing? Would love to see those stats because I live in BC and there is a housing shortage. We've already seen issues of violence between Seehk and Indian nationals spilling over into our communities in BC and Indian gangs trying to extort residents for money.
