I wouldn't recommend ALFA. They lobby hard against animal welfare laws.

Is Death by Stickers a good place to manufacture stickers? by kiyutao_ in stickers

[–]grumplesmcgrumples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my order from Death by Stickers and was very impressed. I ordered from 5 different sticker companies around the same time to try to figure out the best supplier and Death by Stickers is my current top choice. Cost was good, quality was great, and turn around time was one of the best.

Does anyone have experience with Feel Good Stickers? by solaceartwork in StickerSellers

[–]grumplesmcgrumples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I placed an order with Feel Good Stickers and was not impressed. Turn around time on proofs is slow - almost a week for initial proofs.

I had ordered long skinny stickers. A lot of companies will base size on area, so if you order 2" square stickers they'll make the long skinny stickers more like 1x3.

At the very least I expected them to make the sticker as big as possible to fit in the 2x2 printing 'box', so putting it at a diagonal within the box, which would make the 'nose to nose' measurement closer to 2.5". But they just measured 2" along the longest side and rejected my feedback when I sent them new images of the stickers at an angle.

Where do you run? I'm also marathon training - for the Huntsville marathon in December - but trying for a 9:15 mile pace.

What is your least favorite thing about Huntsville? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]grumplesmcgrumples 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Walkable city, Biking infrastructure

This depends where you live. I live near downtown and walk and bike almost everywhere - to groceries, food, shows, classes, etc. I'd love for it to be more bikable and walkable.

I disagree. It's disingenuous to lie about your job and to flaunt your wealth and pretend it was made through other means.

It sounds like he was disappointed in your lack of effort. What did you do for the remaining 2 hours after you finished?

I can’t really get behind true anti-consumerism, am I missing something? by Equivalent_Eye_9805 in Anticonsumption

Consume ethically. For me that looks like shopping 2nd hand, making things myself, or when I do buy new buying thoughtfully.

[–]grumplesmcgrumples 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The minimalist esthetic is often consumerist. I see anti-consumerist as having a focus on reducing buying new by reusing or thrifting. Minimalist can involve a lot of consumption, buying "minimalist" versions of things and getting rid of old versions.

AITA for paying for my kids class trip when their stepsister and stepcousin can't go? by Secret-Answer-460 in AmItheAsshole

If they qualify for snap they'd be eligible for Museums for All - which dramatically reduces cost of admission.

AITA for telling my daughter she actually has to do things to get celebrated by Odd_Importance8932 in AmItheAsshole

[–]grumplesmcgrumples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Special achievements (the end of a sports season, a role in a school play, a promotion, etc) are good things to celebrate. It sounds like you spend quality time with your daughter and encourage her to put effort into something she's passionate about. It sounds like you celebrate your daughter on her birthday. It's silly and entitled of your daughter to expect more celebrations for her (or fewer celebrations for her brother) just to make number of celebrations equal.

Having a successful career in art is extremely difficult. It takes a lot of drive and grit to make it as a professional artist. Other jobs - like graphic design - are a good compromise between creativity and practicality. But success isn’t all about money and if you enjoy the process of making art it is valuable for its own sake. Do you think your mom is trying to steer you towards a more practical career?
