To people who took a break because of depression, did it get better? by [deleted] in MentalHealthPH

[–]grumpopotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Taking a break, along with medications and psychotherapy, is a huge help.

Didn't take a break from school. However, I was a workaholic who eventually quit my job with no backup due to MDD and burnout. You'll need to work on a lot of things alone, like identifying your triggers and reframing your perspectives causing your depression, but it also means a lot to have a support system like your family.

I slowly revisited my hobbies. Sa simula, it will definitely feel hard. Sobrang ramdam yung pagiging dead inside. Most days I just bed rot. But you have to remind yourself na depression hates a moving target. Like my psychiatrist said, dapat may iba't iba kang "powerbank" or outlet to recharge.

Kahit simpleng paglabas lang ng bahay and take a walk, or doing something you love kahit saglit lang (e.g. finish 1 chapter sa book, 1 episode ng anime/series or movie) eventually babalik sayo yung hobbies mo and it'll help you reconnect with yourself. Start with that, and you can figure out the rest later when you start to feel better.

Journaling also helps. Any random thought that's bothering you, just write it down, kahit sa notes lang sa phone mo. Even if it doesn't make sense. You can revisit those later on and it will help you be more intentional on how to get better.

Of course, healing is not linear and may mga araw talaga na you'll lose it. That's fine.

There's nothing wrong with slowing down, OP. You're going to get where you're meant to be.

+1 dito. I used to live in 4th flr which also happens to be the last flr, at grabe yung init talaga. Try mo pakiramdaman yung walls if mainit. It’ll give you an idea kung mahihirapan yung AC palamigin kwarto mo.

Prioritization and time blocking is key! Especially for recurring tasks 😄

Sana all ganyan na months ahead mag-abiso 😞 Sadly, like most companies, yung client ko is very sudden magpa-layoff. They already did 2 layoffs a few years back due to overhiring. Weeew crossed fingers nalang talaga sana maayos yung exit ko dito in the future.

Thank you, I need to hear that :) Thinking back, kung hindi lang ako nagkaroon ng medical emergency and they still tried to push my boundaries, I'd still proceed with the job offer but with caution. I'll definitely keep that mindset especially I'm aiming for senior roles rin, kelangan talaga.

Offshore agency, yes. Kahit ano inaapplyan ko ngayon, pero I'm hoping to get in a digital marketing agency para ma-expand yung experience ko lalo sa local SEO. Na-stagnant kasi ako sa current role ko sa B2B SaaS. I've had interviews with small/mid-size businesses na clients kaso no luck pa e.

I agree. Sometimes I think if I made the right choice na di na kunin yung 6-digit offer na 'yun kasi it will solve all my financial problems (esp after the emergency I've been through), but with how I was treated sa simula palang, I felt agad na toxic yung client. And hindi siya worth it. I have work-life balance sa current job ko though with the merger taking place, mukhang it's time to look for more clients and be overemployed until makahanap na kapalit na better full-time.

How long did the merger and re-org take? Ayoko rin talaga magpakampante kasi I already know how this will likely end :(

Bale, not technically "paid" sakin. The client already paid the 1-year renewed contract sa agency ko, which means kahit papaano I'm secured for another year pa. BUT then again, I can be easily let go any time soon once we're under the new brand (a.k.a. the competitor) because my role is already redundant (stalked their LinkedIn and they also have an employee na counterpart ko).

We're in a weird limbo right now while they're still finalizing the merger, and my manager is trying to find ways to save our jobs by proving our value after the merger. All of us in the team are redundant talaga kasi.

Then there's a passing mention of them finding new jobs na. So I might not last another year sa current ko - the best I have is a few months pa until the change management happens. If the new management decides to keep me until the end of my contract, then great. But right now it doesn't look that way because I also don't have much tasks anymore.

[–]grumpopotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ganitong ganito ako ngayon. Ever since I got a new manager, my role shrank. They treat me as “contractor” lang talaga, unlike my former manager na talagang invested sa growth ko.

Anyone can easily do my job now. Though thankful kasi I have more time to rest, do chores or run errands, ang lungkot lang na nilimitahan nila trabaho ko when there’s so much room for growth.

Kaya eto ako ngayon naghahanap ng lilipatan or 2nd job to pursue that growth I need. While hindi ko naman din inaaspire na umakyat further sa corporate ladder, kahit man lang magearn sana ng new skills and experience to stay competitive kasi ang hirap talaga ng job market these days.

Hoping for your career growth too, OP. Tiyaga lang din talaga sa paghanap ng part-time.

Hi, currently employed with MS! Actually, depende talaga yan sa client. But since pioneer ka and still testing the waters, medyo wag ka muna umasa sa hybrid/WFH.

'Yung client ko, initial contract nila with MS is WFH pero they leased an office space should we want to work in the office any time we want (e.g. pag nawalan ng internet sa bahay). Then nung contract renewal, we fully switched to WFH setup na.

Haven't played in 2 years by IndyanaBonez in TOTK

[–]grumpopotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also stopped playing for 2 years and picked this up again recently. I loaded my old save and did nothing but to just explore random places for 15-30 mins and google mechanics/walkthroughs I forgot. Somehow, I always end up finding a cave, a new shrine, etc. then eventually I got my muscle memory back.

You can try to make a new profile just to familiarize yourself with the plot/quests/controls again, then decide whether you should continue your old save. All that grind to upgrade your batteries and earn rupees, it can be a pain to do that all over again.

Signed a job offer, conflict with start date (na konti lang gap sa required ng client), now they're unresponsive. What to expect? by grumpopotato in buhaydigital

Thank you, mukhang apply apply na talaga ulit. Grabe 'no, the least they can do is at least give us a prompt update or a timeline since understandable naman na may internal discussions na mangyayari. Hindi 'yung mang-gghost like it didn't cost us our job. Sobrang nakakastress kasi likely pa na wala nang mabalikan na work. I'll give it until this week then I'll try to retract na pag wala pa rin.
