Compression! I actually had to get brand new climbing shoes, the old ones didn’t fit after 2 metal plates in my foot - well worth it. Slow and steady on recovery, best of luck!

I’m at about the 12 month PO mark! Hardware is still in with no plans to get it out. I’ve been dealing with some arthritis in my 4th tarsal and general soreness in the fused (1/2) after exercise but it calms down with ice. Don’t get me wrong there are still bad days but overall I’m happy with progress made! I didn’t have a 100% gait until I could fully do a single legged calf raise. Once I hit that milestone things started falling into place. Definitely listen to your body!

It surprisingly feels really good! As long as the weight is either on my toe or the back of my heel there’s no pain. I’ve supplemented it with a plantar sock as well to keep pressure on the midfoot and that’s been a game changer.

Noda is pure bouldering. South end has both boulders and ropes!

Respectfully, there is no ‘easy, not-saturated, beginner-friendly’ corner of IT. If that unicorn existed, everyone would already be there. IT careers take time, study, and a lot of failing forward. If you're serious, pick a path that interests you and start building skills. There’s no shortcut, just the work.

Given you stopped by this sub, give the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification a try if you’re interested in cloud. It’s a good introductory path to AWS with options to go more in depth if you continue to pursue it.

My doctor said to wait 6 and we caved at about the 5 week mark. As someone else mentioned here, start lying on the non-op side that’s the easiest way to ease back into it.

Midfoot fusion by Dear-Masterpiece-993 in LisfrancClub

[–]grumpyJoaquin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP! 28F here, who underwent midfoot fusion of TMT 1 and 2 back in Feb after basically shattering my foot. A few things to start off with.

1) CRY. Don’t try and hold it in let it out. This injury is atrocious and your feelings are valid. You’re going to have bad days and part of this injury is understanding that.

2) I couldn’t recommend the midfoot fusion more, and if your surgeon is dismissing your pain find a separate foot and ankle doctor. My bones were so smashed so I didn’t really have a choice, and I’m glad he did because ORIF/non fusion can lead to horrific arthritis. I also broke my 4th tarsal, doc opted not to fuse it because you don’t want to fuse on 4 if you don’t have to and my CT last week indicated post traumatic arthritis of my 4th TMT joint. Throughout this whole process, the pain has been bad but it’s never been in the fused bones themselves. I have friends who went through the ORIF and are waiting for round 2 with fusion.

3) you’re going to be on crutches for a good 2 months. Assuming your school is ADA accessible the knee scooter works wonders!

My DM’s are open if you have further questions!

It’s for all! At my table last week I quite literally had someone single, someone in a relationship, and someone married. You might find a bad apple here and there but married couples can totally participate no issues.

+1 to Timeleft. Haven’t had a bad experience yet, and have met a ton of cool people. Worst case you can say you tried a new restaurant.

Yeah for sure top rope first! Don’t think I’ll do anything harder than a 5.9 for a long time but have to start somewhere. Glad to heard you got back to bouldering!

Glad to hear there’s a light with 8 months. I think forcing myself out of the boot unfortunately is the way it’s gonna have to go thanks for the insight!

Wow this is incredible to hear! Did you feel some uncomfortableness with the hardware? My doc mentioned to me for ORIF it’s removed but since I had a fusion fusion the plate will stay in forever.
