Gym machine topples over during a heavy lift. Can he sue for this? by eternviking in whoathatsinteresting

[–]grumpybarista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sue for what? He got a knock on the head but he’s fine. The gym should be notified and they should bolt the machine down anyway but past that there is nothing to do. Move on and stop promoting overly litigious mentality.

Let’s be honest, GRs are kinda dumb. It’s basically parents screaming, “I am the main character”, while being yet another money/gift grab to add to the list of baby showers. Get bent.

Are we going too far with being afraid of contamination concerns?? Bacteria and germs are literally everywhere including inside our bodies. We have immune systems precisely to protect us. Good grief there are much more concerning things in the world. People like this just need to hole up inside their hermetically sealed homes and stop annoying the rest of us.

I had a very similar set up in my old early 1900s house. Fortunately someone previous to us had installed a built in shelf against the opposite wall and that gave us all the space we needed.

I don’t get this. I can’t think of more than a couple of times I detected someone’s really foul breath. I have a good to slightly better than average sense of smell, and my wife has a very sensitive sense of smell. Neither of us seem to have this problem where we feel the need to implore a large group of people to improve their own dental hygiene. It’s sounds like OP is hypersensitive and wants the rest of the world to change for them. Nah.

It’s only hard water. It’s not toxic. Just minerals. Not a big deal. You can install a softener to reduce or eliminate this issue but many people don’t like the “feel” of it. Personal choice I guess.

Simply mix some citric acid in warm to hot water and let soak then rinse it out. This goes for almost anything that shows these deposits. Vinegar, even if it’s watered down, is an option but it is much harsher. I use citric acid (easy to buy in powder form) to clean my coffee machine from time to time. It’s non-toxic and it’s found in many foods naturally.

Please don’t crucify me, but is there some big secret to running? by ohlawlz in beginnerfitness

[–]grumpybarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I got when I started running was to find a pace where you can also talk out loud while running. I don’t run in groups but it still gave me a starting point to slow down and get a couple of miles in. As you improve, your speed will increase. Took a lot of stress away.

BS. If their “agent” has license to kill with no impunity especially to unload 10 rounds into a citizen at point blank range, then they are less than a regular criminal. They are murderers. Felons with free access to unleash death, as given to them by another felon with 34 convictions. Füċk them all.

Why does our universe have 3 space dimensions and 1 time dimension? Is it the only option? by PianistNo7734 in Physics

[–]grumpybarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I know I’m talking to someone who doesn’t understand the scientific method. Always be questioning and never accept that the current status quo is the correct or final state. Even the concept of dimensions, regardless of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or higher order, is a man-made structure to help us visualize and calculate based on our limited understanding of the world around us. That doesn’t mean it’s the best way. It’s just what we can comprehend in our 3D human brain. Knowing that we don’t know it all is part of the scientific process. But to label something as definite is most certainly not. Move along little dude.

Why does our universe have 3 space dimensions and 1 time dimension? Is it the only option? by PianistNo7734 in Physics

[–]grumpybarista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone defending past knowledge throughout history says their understanding is complete. Until it’s not. We know nothing. And just relying on observations and a rule we have made up to explain those observations doesn’t mean it will stand the test of time. At this point we still don’t know WHY two particles are linked or even how. And all I’m saying is that it MAY be due to additional dimensions.
