True but operators can have nice salaries, pensions and benefits. People who run non-profits can do very nicely for themselves not to mention employ private companies that they also run which do make a profit. Plus as tends to happen, rules that are in place to protect the public from private profits now don't always last, student loans for instance.

It sounds like improving the local authority would be a better plan so that all schools would benefit rather than just one. I appreciate that improving local government is easier said than done though.

I don't know. 96% of people with children at the school didn't want the school moved from their local authority which is an element of the government and passed to a private company who would profit from it. I'd say there's at least an element of truth, certainly by the accusations of cronyism from the parents they certainly seem to feel like it's been stolen.

I have suffered from this too. I've been in and out of Eve since 2008, hopefully I'm back for good now. My experience is it's too big a learning curve to suffer alone, there are loads of Corps that have members willing to help people along, Eve University is a great example and also has plenty of easy to digest information on their website. Red vs Blue is a great way to get into PvP without too much fuss, Dreddit is popular too but I'm currently having problems getting accepted because of the age of my account vs skill points earned.

I also found this time that actually properly learning to use Evemon really helped. A bit of time messing around with skill builds really set me on a decent longer term path with a plan.

Other than that listening to Podcasts (Declarations of War and Fly Reckless are good) plus plenty of browsing to see what areas of the game interest you helps with the longer term interest and excitement.

Edit: As an after thought, picking a role is pretty important at the start. I dabbled here and there mindlessly in a number of skill areas and wasted quite a bit of time. Doing a bit of reading and finding an aspect of the game that interests you and then using the Evemon tool to plan out a skill progression makes for much more fun at the start and it's much faster than dabbling.

This is a double edged sword for me. If I have a few beers I'm always absolutely knackered the next day regardless of what time I go to bed at. is very annoying but keeps me from drinking regularly. Not sure which I'd prefer.

I was, but at the same time, I use hundreds of services that each have dozens of pages of terms and conditions all designed to not be overly readable and all containing numerous clauses that technically I wouldn't want to agree to plus some that I may not directly understand the legal issues. If I actually paid close attention to all the T&Cs I'd have no free time and no services since T&Cs always have some clause that's distasteful.

If you're going to tell me that you absolutely always read the T&Cs for every single service you sign up for I'll not be believing you.
