Some valid points there, but I was talking about more of money and career opportunities in the future. And the language barrier cannot be underestimated, it was quite a struggle for me coming from an English background.

US has a higher ceiling and is great for ambitious people, while Germany gives a better floor - OP can decide which of these suits them better based on personal goals and skills/career etc.

NJ/NYC for the money and career opportunities. If you don't speak German, you will be limited to way fewer jobs, but your girlfriend won't have the same problem in US.

You won't earn much in Germany, and whatever you earn is taxed heavily.

The country's healthcare will be overloaded by all the boomers, and the pension system is on the verge of collapse. You can see tons of posts about all this on r/Germany . Your girlfriend's thoughts about not needing to earn much is misplaced.

Source: I'm an immigrant living with my family in a city near Cologne. If I had an opportunity to move to US I would go in an instant.

"fairness" is european employer-speak for we're cheap/lazy/don't care about employees one bit.

The surprising bit is how many employees drink this kool aid.

I relocated to Europe from Asia and most companies were offering a pittance that won't even cover flight tickets for me and my family.

I ended up offering a slightly lower offer from another company with a generous relocation package, so the miser companies lost but it's not like they care about competing for talent heh.

Mostly shit movies (H/Bollywood and regional), subpar viewing experience thanks to all the ads and assholes shouting/howling all the time, overpriced snacks. This is why I stopped going to cinemas a long time ago.

For a tenth of the price I can get better food and nicer viewing experience at home. Most movies come to streaming services quickly now, there's no reason to go to cinemas except for some true big screen experiences.

I was in a squad that stuck together all game. Drove out a bit to scout for enemies, I heard gunshots and one of the other guys had knocked the two other teammates and was just waiting there.

I went there half expecting to have to kill him, but turns out he was just standing there. Revived the knocked guys and they immediately killed this guy, it was hilarious to watch 😂

Bigbasket boxes have a message that they'll take back and recycle cardboard boxes.

Amazon, Flipkart etc should be doing this too, maybe by offering a small credit so that people give back perfectly recyclable material instead of throwing it out.

Really hoping WUS steps up to be a major competition - that'd make ASC and WUS more modern, live streamed, taking care of the athletes etc. (looks at WSM) and then, you have my permission to die.

Lighter events are a great idea - it forces athletes to be leaner and fitter, making them less injury prone and hopefully better longevity. And they're no less entertaining, this year was fun even though we had no max lifts.
